8/24/08 - SAR Meeting at Mesa Library Saguaro Room
Meeting was called to order at 1414 on 24 August 2008 at Saguaro Room at the Mesa Public Library
Present: Stephen Thomas(KE7TLS), Virgil Silhanek(K7AZV), Craig Ludwig(K7CSL), Tony Martineau(WB7PZH), Jon Christensen (N1RVR)
1. Reviewed 7-27-2008 minutes. Approved.
2. Sept. 6/7 Wilderness First Aid and CPR class scheduled with Dallas Lane.
-Tony has approx. 10-12 registered. Registration closes 8-25-08.
-Planning on offering WFA&CPR class twice a year.
-Next class will possibly be offered in November 2008 or January 2009.
3. CPR classes offered by local fire departments.
-Collect information and post on VJC SAR forum.
-Also Red Cross, ASHI, and American Heart class info.
4. Helicopter Landing Zone
-Landrover Owners group is scheduling a day in early October in preperation for their Landrover Rally in late Oct.
-Information will be posted for all clubs to come/join in. This will be free.
-They are working on finding a location to allow helicopter to land. Possible hospital location.
5. SAR Activation
-Craig has tested using foonz.com. Allows for phone text messaging, email, recorded message, and conference call options.
-Right now, Craig, Steve, and Virgil will be the 3 first contacts on a temporary basis. (Until we can select others.)
-Craig, Steve, and Virgil are also going to plan a meeting with Mike and Rick from the MCECG group.
6. SAR Drill Activities
-Airpark Jeep Jam? -Virgil will contact Jason at Airpark.
-Oct Landrover Rally? -Possible base support.
-Other offroad events or runs.
7. Future Classes
-SAR Tech 3 - Dallas Lane
-Communications - Mike Pulley
-Water rescue - AZPaddler
-Maps and Compass - AZXJ
-Survival - TFoshee? Kozak?
8. Future meetings
-Sept. 21, 2008 at 2pm. Mesa Public Library Saguaro Room
-Organizational meeting. Topic will be discussing drills for practice activation.
-Oct. 19, 2008 at 2pm. Mesa Public Library Saguaro Room
-We would like to begin monthly training classes. Contacting Mike Pulley to do Trail Communications seminar.
