I just stopped by Discount Tire to see if they had these yet and their
list price is $475.00 (thereabouts) per tire! (although they said they
would match any price including internet). It looks like they are
going the way of the GY MTRs ... will have to wait a year to get down
to $250 or so. Anyone else get a price yet?

Subject: Re: CO2 setup??? (Thanks, everyone!!!)
I just wanted to say thanks to anyone and everyone who responded to
my question about CO2 setup. I got it all together and all I need to
do is fill it before I leave for Moab.
I went with a 150PSI fixed regulator, coiled hose (The guy at the
industrial supply store where I bought it says that he uses the same
setup.),a quick release at the regulator, one at the end of the line,
and a supercheap (inexpensive, high quality)air chuck.
The local welding supply will fill it for me for $14.
Will anyone that's going to Moab for Easter have any decals, so I can
get a couple?
Once again, thanks to everyone for the help...

Hey all,
Need some feedback.
I am looking very hard at Rubicons (almost got one yesterday, which
would have been great to go out to the training class today, but I
digress...).
One of the options is to get only the soft top or for an extra $1400,
get both the soft and hard top. So my question is:
How big a deal is the hard top?
I ask because I seem to see people selling them a lot, is the soft
top good enough, even in the summer?
All opinions welcomed.

Kent,
I had both tops... and I thought I'd use the hardtop a great deal during the
winter; but I hardly used it at all so I ultimately sold it. One thing is
for sure; you will never get a new one at the price you can get if your
order the dual top option so now is the time to get one if you think you
need it. If you are going to be here in Arizona for a long time... I'd say
stay with a soft top only... if there is a chance you'll be moving to cold
weather country with ice and snow and all that nasty stuff; I'd say get both
tops. I found that storing the hard top was a pain in the butt and putting
it on with only one person was very difficult.
Perhaps you should base whether or not you get one on the vehicles that are
available... if you find one that you REALLY like and it comes with (or
without) you can always change and purchase a used one later OR sell the
hardtop if you get the vehicle but find you don't use the hardtop.
Hmmmmm.... what fun choices you have in front of you. <grin>

My Jeep came with both.. The hardtop was installed.. I removed it after the
1st month, and installed the softtop.. I sold the hard top some months
later.. The soft top works fine.. The A/C works fine with the soft top.. The
soft top is louder than the hard top.
Best,

Subject: [az_vjc] Last night's BLM meeting - round 2
Last night's BLM meeting was the second part of the 2-part workshop held
at the Phoenix location. The Black Canyon City location had their
second
part the night before.
The meeting went as follows. Following a brief introduction, the entire
group
participated in a discussion in which the suggestions from the previous
meeting
were clarified. Basically, the BLM needs to know how to interpret the
suggestions
that were made because the wording used to capture the original
suggestions wasn't
always clear. It seems the BLM decided to make the public provide the
clarifications
rather than make assumptions on their own. This is good but only if the
right people
are there to defend their suggestions.
The original suggestions have been documented and this documentation is
handed
out at the meeting. The suggestions have been organized into specific
categories that
partially map to the subjects for which the table discussions were held
at the previous
meeting. The "roads and trails" suggestions from the original meeting
seems to have
been dispersed into other categories - mostly the "recreation and
access" category.
Anyone considering attending any of the remaining meetings, please do
so! These
are important meetings to attend as they help ensure our suggestions are
interpretted
correctly. It's also a chance to add suggestions that had been made
during the previous
meetings but which were omitted from the documentation (and there were
some).
Attendance at last night's meeting we lower than for the previous
meeting at the Phoenix
location. OHV attandance was also lower. And there were some people in
attendance
that weren't at the first meeting (including some annoying SC folks).
We need to have
OHV folks in attendance!
-Roger

Subject: [TR] Trip Report - Technical Workshop - Saturday, April 5, 2003
Hello All,
Jim Florence lead a trail run Saturday, April 5, 2003 across Technical Workshop
I would say the training class was a very big success. We had over 40 Jeeps show up and that does not count the trainers or myself. I want to thank everyone for showing up this kind of turn out makes it worth the work for all the trainers.
I want to thank all the trainers everyone one of you did an excellent job running your stations and giving out lots of information. Today was another day I was very proud to say I was a member of the AZVJC. To all the trainers for all your hard work today I want you to know you are a credit to the sport we love.
To all the attendees I hope you had as much fun as I did. This should be a yearly project. Jim F. aka Hackle

Last night's BLM meeting was the second part of the 2-part workshop held
at the Phoenix location. The Black Canyon City location had their
second
part the night before.
The meeting went as follows. Following a brief introduction, the entire
group
participated in a discussion in which the suggestions from the previous
meeting
were clarified. Basically, the BLM needs to know how to interpret the
suggestions
that were made because the wording used to capture the original
suggestions wasn't
always clear. It seems the BLM decided to make the public provide the
clarifications
rather than make assumptions on their own. This is good but only if the
right people
are there to defend their suggestions.
The original suggestions have been documented and this documentation is
handed
out at the meeting. The suggestions have been organized into specific
categories that
partially map to the subjects for which the table discussions were held
at the previous
meeting. The "roads and trails" suggestions from the original meeting
seems to have
been dispersed into other categories - mostly the "recreation and
access" category.
Anyone considering attending any of the remaining meetings, please do
so! These
are important meetings to attend as they help ensure our suggestions are
interpretted
correctly. It's also a chance to add suggestions that had been made
during the previous
meetings but which were omitted from the documentation (and there were
some).
Attendance at last night's meeting we lower than for the previous
meeting at the Phoenix
location. OHV attandance was also lower. And there were some people in
attendance
that weren't at the first meeting (including some annoying SC folks).
We need to have
OHV folks in attendance!

Jim F. aka Hackle
