Well, I finally got a Dana 44 rear axle with Detroit locker and 4:88
gears with a Lockrite in the Dana 30 front. I still neet to get the
speedo gear changed though as 85 on the speedo is really 60 on the
GPS. I can now drive up the Rim without downshifting as I'm running
around 2400 to 2500 rpm at 60 mph. Now for some 35's.

I may try this instead of the typical anti-wrap bar. You should consider
welding the axle tubes to the diff also.

Hello All,
Joe Bornkessel is leading a Predator trail run on Sunday, April 6, 2003.
When: Meet at 8:00 A.M.
Where: Dirt parking lot on west side of Table Mesa.
Rating: 4.5+
Length: 5-6 Hours
CB Channel: 4
Will be running Upper Terminator and then probably hit Predator or one of the other trails in the area.
As with many of the Arizona trails, Predator is not long in length, but it definitely doesn't lack anything for the ultimate 4x4 challenge. There are 2 - 4 foot rock ledges; ledges to straddle; rocks to get over or around and there is a good chance to do some body damage.
It is a favorite but does require a fully locked vehicle, lifted and modified and driven by an experienced driver.
It is an all day trail; bring lunch and,of course, plenty of water and your camera.
Enjoy and remember to TREAD Lightly!

crank but it will not fire right off. Sometimes it will take five minutes to
get it to fire. I just changed the Distributor cap and rotor to see if that
was it. but it is still doing it. I checked the spark plugs (Bosch Platinum)
they look fine but they are over a year old. My next step is going to be new
Sparkplug wires. Am I heading in the right direction. Could it be a Fuel
pump? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Subject: [TR] Sunflower Mine Loop - Saturday, April 5, 2003 - Reminder
Hello All,
Brad Rogers is leading a Sunflower Mine Loop trail run on Saturday, April 5, 2003.
When: 8:00am Meet at last gas station on Hwy. 87 heading towards Payson; across from Casino (just past Fountain Hills)
Where: SunFlower Mine Loop
Rating: 3.5-
Length: Most of the day
CB Channel: 4
We had such a good trip the first time I just thought it would be fun to take a group up. Great adventure trip where you can try out your rock gaurds as well as your camera skills. If the creek is flowing your in for a wet ride, as well as some mine discovery. I believe we checked out 6 mines that were at least 100 yds long each, so bring a spot light because a flash light just doesn't cut it. Also bring some sandwiches because the trip can take a while if your into the mine thing.
The Sunflower Mine Loop is a fun trail that offers a little something for everyone. It takes 3 – 4 hours to complete allowing for time to poke around and explore. The loop starts as an easy 2.5 trail that winds along a hillside and slowly descends into the canyon. After crossing a bridge you continue up the canyon until you arrive at the Sunflower Mine site. The mine’s processing building is still standing and is in decent shape. Stock vehicles can make this section of the loop easily, however the next section requires higher ground clearance and aggressive tires.
After leaving the mine the trails continues up a shady canyon becoming more tight and challenging as it runs across and up a rocky creek bed. The bed is usually dry but can be very slippery when water is running. After awhile you make a hard right turn up a steep rock wall obstacle and continue to climb a loose rocky road out of the canyon and into the pines and junipers. At the top the trail continues with some washed out sections, passes a couple of more mine shafts, and gradually becomes easier as you return to the loops starting point.
Remember to pack water, a lunch, and bring your camera.
Enjoy and remember to TREAD Lightly!

I have a line on getting some Yellow Optima top batteries at a very

all your other Jeep needs. I'm hoping to be able to sell them for
about $100 or so each. Plus no shipping costs--pick up in Tempe
only. Please e-mail me if you are interested so I can know how much
interest there is here.
Thanks,

P.S. is it OK to present this idea to the group?? I am only doing
this for this Jeep Club because I thought I could pass on a good

Subject: Re: [Tech] 99 Wrangler - SYE installed, yet still vibrating
Ryan,
You might also check and see if the remaining vibration is from the
front end being out of alignment or possibly tires not being
balanced. One way to find out for sure if the vibration is from the
driveshaft is to remove the drive shaft (should be really easy to do)
and then simply take it for a drive in 4H so that it's now front-
wheel drive. If it still vibrates then it has to be something else.
Also as far as measuring driveshaft angles (or any angle for that
matter) if you don't have the angle finder that Scott mentioned you
can calculate the angle easy enough with just a ruler and maybe a
level (for improved accuracy) and just a little basic geometry. If
your interested and don't know how to do this then let me know and
I'll explain it (it's really easy).
Personally, I would just remove the rear driveshaft and see if that
solves the problem since you very well could have two vibration
sources.

Hi Kent,
Sorry man... I couldn't help giving you the advise that many of us would
have taken had the Rubicon been available when we purchased our rigs... I
honestly believe that you just purchased the most off-the-shelf capable
off-road vehicle available anywhere in the world (or of course, I could be
extremely biased <grin>)
So now... if you end up getting the Rubicon; you must bring it over to my

If you do get it... give me a call (602) 616-0785.

While you and I have never met, I have lerked here enough to know seem
to be held in some esteem by the board, so your advice caught me unawares.
"If you can afford it; GET THE RUBICON.." you say? Well being
naturaully curious about all things Jeep, I do a little research.
D44s, not one but 2! Air lockers, not one but two! 64 : 1 crawl
ratio out of the box. Hah! I think too good to be true, must drive
like hell.
So today I take a little test drive (in my best creepy drug dealer
voice, "It's OK, just take one hit off the crack pipe, it won't hurt
you. Mwahhhaaaahhaaaahaaaa."). OhMyGodIMayBeHooked. Wow.
But surely the bank won't give a loan for such a vehicle. Right? I
just got off the phone with them: "Would you like us to mail the check
to you or to the dealership?"
Did I mention I am getting it at invoice?
How many Rubies are there in the group?
Can't....
Stop....
Twitching.....
Must Sit Down.....

Subject: Possible group buy on Yellow Top Optima batteries
I have a line on getting some Yellow Optima top batteries at a very
good price. I believe this is the battery you want for winching and
all your other Jeep needs. I'm hoping to be able to sell them for
about $100 or so each. Plus no shipping costs--pick up in Tempe
only. Please e-mail me if you are interested so I can know how much
interest there is here.
Thanks,
Angel
P.S. is it OK to present this idea to the group?? I am only doing
this for this Jeep Club because I thought I could pass on a good
deal to everyone here. Please delete this post if it considered
spam.

So now... if you end up getting the Rubicon; you must bring it over to my
place so I can take a look at it and you can purchase some stickers (or
magnets) to display your club pride.
