No... you guys... it's REALLY true.
My friends uncle is an engineer at DC. He told me about this last
week. He's actually losing his job because of the discontinued
Rubicon. His entire team is looking for work now. And if you send a
$20 donation to bermboy@h... this will help feed and cloth his
family while he looks for work.
April Fools ;P
And yeah, I stole it from Pirate, it was just too good to pass up:)

This is absolutely insane...
"We took it to the Southridge Mall parking lot and tried
pulling the little lever and pressing the buttons for the four wheel
drive system." she said in an interview, "But it went so slow people
were honking at us and when we tried to turn into a parking space it
felt like the whole drivetrain just locked up solid and the tires

Is it POSSIBLE that people could be so damn stupid? Simply reading the
owners
manual on the Rubicon will prevent this idiocy.
I hope this is some kind of sick joke... an April fools thing...
Even the worst lawyer in the world could defend this kind of case.

I say we all email this "Kimberley White of Silver City, New Mexico"
and tell her that she's a complete idiot and has no business with a
Jeep! I really really hate stupid people and sadly they out number
us:) I guess the Rubicon will become a collector's item!
For once I think the manufacturer listened to us and then this is
what happens. I think the Rubicon was a great idea although I can
think of other mods I would have liked to have seen also (like a
longer rear driveshaft with a CV).

killed throughout the Middle East. America could do little to protect her
citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US soil continued.
In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into
the US Embassy compound in Beirut. When it explodes, it kills 63 people. The
a! larm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button once more. Then
just six short months later a large truck heavily laden down with over 2500
pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps
headquarters in Beirut. 241 US servicemen are killed. America mourns her
dead and hit the Snooze Button once more. Two months later in December 1983,
another truck loaded with explosives is driven into the US Embassy in
Kuwait, and America continues her slumber. The following year, in September
1984, another van was driven into the gates of the US Embassy in Beirut and
America slept.

National Security Council to see the pattern that has been developing since

Ben,
The itinerary is pretty informal at this point. We will leave Phoenix on the
21st and travel about 10-12 hours to Bishop CA., stay the night in a motel
and in the morning travel the remaining 6-8 hours to Loon Lake, camping out
there.
Early next morning start the trail, going as far as Spider Lake. (7-8 hours
of road to go 2 1/2 miles)
Should make it by 3pm barring any trouble on the trail. Camp out again, its
a beautiful Alpine lake with crystal clear water about 30' down to the
bottom.
Next morning, early again, (this is to beat the other 75 jeeps to the next
camp) travel to Rubicon Springs, camp out again, ( there is a ten dollar fee
for this one as its on private land)
Third day on the trail travel up Cadillac hill and out to Lake Tahoe. Head
back to Bishop and stay the night.
Last day travel back to Phoenix, should be home by 5-6pm, again barring any
trouble.
The fastest way there from Phoenix is through San Berdue to Barstow to
Bishop to the trailhead on Icehouse Road.
I have picked the dates to miss the Jeep Jamboree, as there are way to many
people there then.
About a month before the trip, I will post a BBQ/planning meeting at my
house so that we can sort out who is going to go and what we need to do to
make it happen. At that time Jeff Cox and I can answer all the questions
that we know and make up good lies for the rest. LOL
You won't regret this trip, it is a lot of fun, in your face wheelin for 3
days straight, camping out in the pines and a week out of the Phoenix heat.
Everyone there enjoys jeepin like we all do, it is a blast.

OK, but you're gonna miss a GOOD one... :-)
I've had quite a few locals tell me that they'll be there. We may
get a few showers, which will make things MUCH more fun. You really
haven't experienced the Staircase till you've climbed it when it's
wet. THAT'S a blast!
I do that trail pretty often. We'll get together soon.
Have fun at white tanks.

Go to bed!
As far as your questions go... I would recommend that you put 4.88's in your rig. There are some discussions about the pinion being too small on the 4.88:1 gearset which could lead to failure... however; I have yet to hear of a single instance of this happening. I installed 4.56:1 gears in my rig and if I had to do it over; I'd go with 4.88:1 or even 5.13:1 (I have D44s... you could not get 5.13:1 for your rig)

Hello Gang,
Can someone answer this question for me:
I want to change out my gears from 3.55's to 4.56's. I am not sure if I am going to keep my front D30, for I am looking to upgrade to a better axle. Can I install the rear 4.56's and take off my front drive shaft, and drive the XJ until I get my upgrade Front axle? Or do I have to take out the 3.55's in the front axle (D30) to be able to drive the jeep with the rear being changed out to 4.56's?? My XJ is not a daily driven vehicle. Any help in this issue would be GREATLY appreciated,

Mike,
I have heard the same thing. It sounds like this is the way to go if you have a cracked manifold to replace. I trust Banks to develop low end power. They do amazing things for the PowerStroke and Cummins diesels and those are both low end motors. I'm not surprised that they have managed to build the best header out there for a Jeep that is used the way we use them.

I finally got my Banks header installed yesterday.........I'm happy to say, I didn't lose any bottom end and gained quite a bit of mid to top range push. I now have pretty serious passing power......it feels good to stomp the pedal and go.

Is it POSSIBLE that people could be so damn stupid? Simply reading the

what happens.

Ben,
The itinerary is pretty informal at this point.

I've had quite a few locals tell me that they'll be there. We may
get a few showers, which will make things MUCH more fun. You really
haven't experienced the Staircase till you've climbed it when it's

I do that trail pretty often. We'll get together soon.

Cody,
Isn't it past your bedtime?
Kind Regards,
Joe West

Subject: Gear Install?
Hello Gang,
I am ready to have my 4.56 gears installed. I have an 87 XJ with a D30 front, and a D35-non c-clip in the rear. I have the gears and master rebuild kits from Randy's. Can you recommend a good and not too expensive shop in the valley. I have been told that 4wheelers supply is not too bad. I will be delivering the complete vehicle, for the axles are not out. Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Casper

Subject: Gears??
Hello Gang,
Can someone answer this question for me:
I want to change out my gears from 3.55's to 4.56's. I am not sure if I am going to keep my front D30, for I am looking to upgrade to a better axle. Can I install the rear 4.56's and take off my front drive shaft, and drive the XJ until I get my upgrade Front axle? Or do I have to take out the 3.55's in the front axle (D30) to be able to drive the jeep with the rear being changed out to 4.56's?? My XJ is not a daily driven vehicle. Any help in this issue would be GREATLY appreciated,
Thanks,
Casper

Subject: RE: Banks header (torque tube)
Mike,
I have heard the same thing.
