Hello group.
I have not had a chance to talk to Joe W yet, to find what exactly he is up to, or to thank him for the heading up this task. But I wanted address the group directly. Today was the first chance I have had to check my email in a few days so I am behind a bit. Needless to say, when I did check my mail... I was stunned.
As a business owner, reading some one's "good service" email is about the biggest compliment I could recieve. Every time I read one, I still get that warm fuzzy feeling.
When I wrote about someone swiping my ramp I was just hopeing that someone have seen it. Along shot I know, but a chance none the less...
But I have to say, I was COMPLETLY blown away by Joe West's gesture and the way so many of you jumped in on it. Floored, taken back, shocked.. To say I was touched would be a grave understatement. So thank you all for the emails, and Thank you to those that contributed to the Ramp Fund. The only way I can think of to thank you now, is to build a REALLY bad *** ramp and dedicate it to the club. I will be in touch and give everyone updates on how it goes. Then, I guess I will have to have a Ramp Party.
Again, Thank you everyone.
Warmest Regards and Best Wishes

Actually... I was thinking that we could help John set it at an accurate
angle... something a little better than:
"It's somewhere around 26 degrees... plus or minus... ummmm...errrrr... 10
degrees"
<grin>
I haven't yet spoken with John... but as soon as I do; I'll let everyone
know what he wants to do about rebuilding the ramp.
We have somewhere in the neighborhood of $120 donated via Paypal so far and
a few members who don't use paypal still left to donate.
I think that Rick Beer will donate the wheels and tires for it... and I will
pitch in for John's labor to build it (I don't know how many hours of labor
he had in the last one, but I'd like to pay for his time if he wants to
build the next one without any help (not sure his insurance would cover
other people using his equipment at his shop so he may have to do the work
himself).
Thanks everyone! I think after the new ramp is built; we should have a Ramp
party (any excuse to get together with a bunch of Jeepers <grin>)
If there are still people who want to donate to the ramp fund... please
paypal whatever you like to:
arizonajeep@c...
Please remember that I cannot accept credit cards.

Art,
In a month or two I will have a 1954 wagon chassis and drivetrain up
for sale. It's doubtful that it will sell as a unit. It has a 223-6
Ford engine, T90 transmission (maybe a T98, not sure right now), T18
transfer case and the usual Dana 44(rear) 25(front) with 5.38 r&ps.
The rear axle was rebuilt by Willys Works (Tucson) a couple of years
ago. I think the axles are the same width as the CJs, but that can be
verified. I think they measure 58" from brake drum to brake drum.
We are planning on putting the body on a FS 3/4-ton truck chassis.
The drivetrain is also being upgraded. The only thing we are really
saving from the wagon is the body and a few assorted pieces.
I also have a T18A transmission from a 1980 J20. It will need a short
shaft conversion to use on a CJ.

Hello All,
Bill Ragan is leading a Broken Arrow trail run on Saturday, April 5, 2003.
When: Leaders meeting at 12:30 pm
We'll hit the trail around 1pm
Where: Meet at the trailhead.
Rating: 2.5+
Length: 3-4 hours
CB Channel: 4
For those who couldn't make it this past Sunday, I thought I'd put together another run for this Saturday.
The valley guys can take their time coming up, since it's not so early. Even with a large group and time for pictures, we should be done well before dark.
Please email me if you'd like to be a flight leader. You MUST have a CB to lead.
It should be a lot of fun!
Broken Arrow is a fun trail with great scenery. A stock Jeep can make this run and there are areas for those with built rigs to test and flex their suspension, such as the Crack. Pay attention to the signs, as part of this trail is a one-way loop.
A lot of Pink Jeeps share the trail so please put your best foot forward while representing our club. For many of the passengers on those Jeep tours, you are the first real off-roader they have ever seen (gosh, that is a scarey thought!) You will find that most of the pink drivers are pretty cool!
The Devil's Staircase is fun, and some members have been known to run it bottom-to-top. If you do, please post a look-out at the top to prevent someone from coming down while you are trying to go up.
It usually takes a couple of hours to make the loop, which allows ample time for pictures and a stop at Chicken Point for lunch (you did bring lunch, didn't you?)
Enjoy and remember to TREAD Lightly!

Hi Bill,
Make sure everyone has a red rock pass... if you meet at the trailhead; you may find some people may not have their pass at which point they will not be allowed to park anywhere on the trail and get out to look around. Just a reminder.

hey that sounds like a great idea, "hunters- build a ramp BBQ". John would
love that. I could supply my welder, generator, plasma cutter, compressor

soda.

Come on folks....there were 50+ people who used that ramp at the last
BBQ...I've no idea how many on the previous one. I am thinking that we
can do better than $120 + some uncollected donations! I remember there
being a number of Jackson sized pledges that quickly followed Joe's
initial post. No one is asking you to match those (unless you wish
to)....but if you could kick in a few bucks, John would appreciate it
very much. (and I am sure many club members would as well)
If someone wishes to make a ramp contribution while attending the 4WD
clinic this Saturday (at the White Tanks), you can catch me there and
I'll ensure that Joe gets the money. Just put it in an envelope and
write RAMP FUND on it (your name is optional) and I'll pass them on to
JoeW when he returns home.
Thanks to all!

I think that Rick Beer will donate the wheels and tires for it... and I
will
pitch in for John's labor to build it (I don't know how many hours of

build the next one without any help (not sure his insurance would cover

Subject: Thank You from Hunter/Ramp

Actually... I was thinking that we could help John set it at an accurate
angle... something a little better than: "It's somewhere around 26
degrees... plus or minus... ummmm...errrrr... 10 degrees" <grin>
I haven't yet spoken with John... but as soon as I do; I'll let everyone
know what he wants to do about rebuilding the ramp. We have somewhere in
the neighborhood of $120 donated via Paypal so far and a few members who
don't use paypal still left to donate.
I think that Rick Beer will donate the wheels and tires for it... and I
will pitch in for John's labor to build it (I don't know how many hours
of labor he had in the last one, but I'd like to pay for his time if he
wants to build the next one without any help (not sure his insurance
would cover other people using his equipment at his shop so he may have
to do the work himself).
Thanks everyone! I think after the new ramp is built; we should have a
Ramp party (any excuse to get together with a bunch of Jeepers <grin>)
If there are still people who want to donate to the ramp fund... please
paypal whatever you like to:
arizonajeep@c...
Please remember that I cannot accept credit cards.
Kind Regards,

Art,
In a month or two I will have a 1954 wagon chassis and drivetrain up

Actually... I was thinking that we could help John set it at an accurate
angle... something a little better than:
"It's somewhere around 26 degrees... plus or minus... ummmm...errrrr...
10
degrees"
<grin>
I haven't yet spoken with John... but as soon as I do; I'll let everyone
know what he wants to do about rebuilding the ramp.
We have somewhere in the neighborhood of $120 donated via Paypal so far
and
a few members who don't use paypal still left to donate.
I think that Rick Beer will donate the wheels and tires for it... and I
will
pitch in for John's labor to build it (I don't know how many hours of
labor
he had in the last one, but I'd like to pay for his time if he wants to
build the next one without any help (not sure his insurance would cover
other people using his equipment at his shop so he may have to do the
work
himself).
Thanks everyone! I think after the new ramp is built; we should have a
Ramp
party (any excuse to get together with a bunch of Jeepers <grin>)
If there are still people who want to donate to the ramp fund... please
paypal whatever you like to:
arizonajeep@c...
Please remember that I cannot accept credit cards.
Kind Regards,
Joe West
(Coming home from Tokyo this Friday! WOOOOO HOOOOOO)

LOL.....maybe he was just thinking of shooting the theives while he was
writing it. Joe W, you should post up the ramp building party on the
site....
We can make this ramp longer and steeper so that Troy wont be able to
drive
over the top anymore :) lol

Nick,
Nope...I didn't take any pics of $50 or $100 hills on account of I just
stood at the bottom of them with my mouth hanging wide open....watching
the rails accelerate to the top (the good ones anyway!) Forgot to use
the camera! LOL
