Now the only thing I have left is to get a serp pulley for the york and its "air" time. Thanks again Scott!! Jeff GIjeep

Anthony,
I just installed the Daystar 1" body lift and like it a lot (so far). It
was fairly easy to install and it replaces the factory mounts. I did
however upgrade the grade 5 bolts to 8. I think it rides real well.
This lift replaced my squished hockey pucks that were 2 years old.

Subject: Repaired my Stripped Drain Plug
Just a note to say thanks to those responded to my query regarding the stripped drain plug on my oil pan.
I never did find an oversize plug the matched the threads the books/computers said I should have, so I bought a stock sized replacement and decided I would "see what happens if i try to install a new plug".
So...pulled the old plug and tried to install the new one...no go! Hmmmm...inspect old plug, and it's nowhere close to the books recommendation for drain plugs. Seems it was a ½ incher, as opposed to the new 14mm x 1.25 I was sold.
This was actually good news, as there ARE oversize plugs available in the 1/2" size. So I picked up one of the self tapping repalcement plugs that is sorta a "plug-in-a-plug" style, installed it, refilled the oil, wheeled it yesterday...and no leaks! I did use a little silicone around the main threads of the new plug, since I shouldn't need to turn them again.
Moral of story? Sometimes you can be thankful to have an older, ******* child Jeep! My 87 is from the first year for YJ's, so it looks like a couple things (oil pan) may have been carried over from the CJ, which apparently used a 1/2" drain plug.

Subject: [az_vjc] Fire Relief Run II
Rodeo – Chediski Fire Relief Run II
When we made the first run we said we'd be back and not too long ago
a post talking about being proud of this group sprung up and the
question of going back was raised. Since then Joe Kearney and I
have made a few contacts and below outlines what we have found out.
I spoke with Dave Shurman who heads up one of two committees
coordinating the rebuild efforts. He was very excited to hear from
us and welcomes our help. He was wondering what we could bring in
the way of assistance. I know during the first run it was talked
about helping with the clean up, and yes there is still clean up to
do. Many of the elderly that were displaced have been living in
apartments and have yet to start cleaning up and have no means to
clean up. A Scout Troop is scheduled to go up on April 26th to
assist with the clean up efforts. Also some of the residents have
met with extremely uncooperative insurance companies, some outright
refusing to pay, telling the customer it is not covered.
The committees next meeting is two weeks from this Friday, however
Dave is going to begin to talk with committee members right now so
that at the next meeting they can all bring ideas of how we could
help. They are also interested to hear out ideas on how we could
help, so we are going to start a list and then present it to them
with our ideas too, I plan to present this to them prior to their
next meeting. So if you have any let us know, we have put some
ideas below:
Please send all ideas to Joe Kearney at Joe-CJ7@J... he
will be maintaining the list.
1. Building Materials – Includes masonry work
2. Plants – Includes planting them
3. Swap Meet – bring furniture etc… all proceeds go to the
victims or the committees for future help
4. Picnic for the victims
I am sure we are going to need quite a bit of assistance to pull
this off, so if anyone wants to help please email me. I would like
to get some things from the local shops like last time for a raffle
and one for a prize. The prize will be awarded to who ever comes up
with the logo for the run. Please forward all entries to Joe and we
will post them for the club will vote. Winner gets the prize.
Thought we could have fun with this, but if no one wants to do it
then we can use the old logo and put a II on it.
Need:
1. Someone to coordinate getting raffle prizes and prize for
logo contest
2. Someone to coordinate selling the raffle tickets
3. Someone to coordinate getting t-shirts and/or stickers made
(want logos of vendors giving prizes on shirts if they agree)
STIPULATION: All Proceeds will be a donation
4. Someone to coordinate the starting location
5. Someone to coordinate traffic control at the light
6. We will need more people to help get items as we learn what
they need, such as the building materials, plants etc…
I would also like to encourage everyone who attends and even when
possible for materials and such to support the local businesses up
there, many of them went out on a limb for the residents and the
tourism being down has hurt them too, some of them also lost homes.
If you can plan on buying lunch in a local establishment, if you are
coordinating getting supplies you might want to call one of the
local stores and see if it is something we need to buy to buy it
there. If you plan on buying plants to put in call ahead to the
nursery up there and plan your purchase there.
I will keep everyone updated as I get more information.
Thanks all,
Chris R.

Great, now you show up as nemmer. Just when I finally started associating
you with "intertwingled".
Satruday was a fun day, thanks again everyone. Once again we had a
tremendous positive response to both the morning and afternoon rallies. Keep
in mind this is a friendly rally. We beep and wave and almost always get a
wave and a smile back. In the AM we had some people join us from a military
vehicle collectors group as well as a few motorcycles, which was cool. We
ended up at 30th Ave and Thomas where a print shop setup their parking lot
as troop support HQ, with games for kids, food, a monster truck and some
Army equipment.
Most importantly a few times military/ex-military/family of military
servicepeople came up to us and mentioned how much they appreciated the show
of support. I met a few servicepeople (men and women) who said they will be
sure the troops in the Gulf get the message. I even saw a few cops
beep/wave. We had no confrontations, though we parked briefly to regather
over at the Biltmore Fashion Park on 24th Street and Camelback and
immediately security came over to make sure we weren't trying to get into
trouble (we weren't). There were no protesters anywhere we went this time.
I'm going to have to take a weekend off and catch up on things I put off
over the last few weeks, but I'll try and be ready to do it again soon if
anybody wants to keep doing these.

Subject: Re: Axle Strength Question
The Dana 60 is considerably stronger than the 8.8. However, the 8.8
isn't really an option for a front axle. The most popular choices
for front axles are: Dana 44, Dana 60, Ford 9". Also, keep in mind
that there are other tradeoffs. The Dana 60 is the heaviest and its
diff hangs down the lowest (unless you shave the housing or go with
one of the aftermarket 60's like the Dynatrac Pro Rock 60 or the Tera
60.
A Dana 44 with chromoly shafts and CTM u-joints makes a pretty stout
set-up without the weight or loss of clearance of the Dana 60. But
if you're wanting to run 38" or bigger tires (especially behind a V-8
and really low gearing), then go Dana 60.

Well I am the gear guy and have done allot for the AZVJC. I also have the best install price. I have just one problem, I broke my #9 and #10 rib at the Dunes while on my quad and will most likely be out of commission for at least two more weeks. 4 wheel supply can do them for you but I do not know if they can get you in that quick. I assume you already have the 4.88s in the rear.

Who could provide this service at a good price/performance ratio? Most go to rick beer for tires who do we go to for gears after we are done with rick? ;-)

If you want everything in one shop then you are lookin at 4 wheelers

be able to do them that quickly for you especially if you are
stressing to do them right! Gears should never be a rush job! Just
curious... why only the front? Not like you can put it in 4wd until
both sets are done.... -Rob

It is just boulder after boulder rock garden the entrance is a double wall wammy then pure rock rock rock then a waterfall to leave where I snapped a rear control arm which is beefey and twisted it like butter and made my wheel base about two feet shorter and twisted metal off crunch i had to winch out and be winch for about a half mile up a rock rock to THE WALL about a 60 to 70 ft 30% grade or more boulders and soft sand even ajeep with tera low had a extreme time to get out this is where my jeep sat until steve sample and greg kenny came to the rescue This trail amke the woodpeckerss or ajax's, firehole teminators and so on look real easy after this diff grab'in u-joint snappin, tire shred'in control arm snatch'in body rip'in clutch burn'in vile trail called the Graveyard IT WAS A BLASTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT let do it again

Subject: GEAR installs
I need a place that can install my 4.88's in the front 30 in my TJ prerrably friday after I get off @ 2pm and be done that day (I understand extenuating circumstances though) I want quality gears (ie. richmond precision gear) and install and labor. Who could provide this service at a good price/performance ratio? Most go to rick beer for tires who do we go to for gears after we are done with rick? ;-)
Thanks,
Scott Legge
PS
I dont care to bug the person as to how to install gears. I dont want a class I just want em installed right.

If you want everything in one shop then you are lookin at 4 wheelers
supply. As far as taking it in at 2:00 and having it done that
day... good luck! gears take a LONG time to install! They might not
be able to do them that quickly for you especially if you are
stressing to do them right! Gears should never be a rush job! Just
curious... why only the front? Not like you can put it in 4wd until
both sets are done.... -Rob
