Also look into the Red Cross they have a large operation at Bagram Air Base
when I was there and they always had incoming supplies that went out to all
the troops.

Subject: Beadlock Wheel Survey

Hi all,

I will be installing new axels in the next couple of weeks and will be
changing to 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern, so I need new wheels. I have been
looking for a 24+ bolt, 8"-10" x 15"-17". I currently have custom built
steel Rock Crawlers from 4Wheelers, so I would like to try an allow
wheel.

I would like to find out what types of Beadlocks people are using and
how they have liked them. So far, I have looked at Champion, Allied,
MRT, OMF, Trail Ready and High Impact. I know there are others out
there, so if I missed one, please let me know.

All opinions and suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Brad

Sorry for this OT post but Im hoping some one can help me. If there is anybody that has noting to do on thursdy 27th from noon on I really could use some help loading and/or unloading my uhaul. I will be moving from 24th st/mcdowell to Chandler at Mcqueen and Pecos area. I will have BEER for anyone willing to help. And possibly Pizza. If some could help load about noon and some help in the afternoon unload that would be great.

This might be too much to ask but I'd rather try asking here than going to the "human market" at walmart and paying someone to help that I probabally cant trust because they cant get a job anyway.

i have never been in the military but i grew up in a military family. i love my country and my freedom! i make it a point to go out of my way when i see a service man/woman and tell them that i am proud of them and that i am thankful from my and my family's freedom. in doing this i have seen even the biggest, tallest, and most likely the strongest military personel get tears in their eyes! I LOVE THESE PEOPLE!!! i want the iraqi people to experience the freedom that we all have!

I SUPPORT MY TROOPS!

after 9.11 a woman by the name of Ellen Harpin started to knit hats and socks for ALL of the troops over seas. she is a very strong woman and she has done more work and has given more love to our troops than (IMO) any other american has ever shown! if we do a care package either as a club or as an individual please contact her to see what you can do to help her! ellenharpin@webtv.net , http://www.wtv-zone.com/kjsb/bataan.html

my brother in law will be out of the service in 20 days... his term is up... i hope he doesn't have to go back.. after 9.11 his boat was the lead boat in the our attack against al qaeda.

it kills me now to think that i never lent a hand in our freedom! now all i can do is support the ones who fight and DIE for my freedom and my beliefs!

Hi Sean,
That's a new address. Could you please change the e-mail address for
the project to Shipsupport@webtv.net as my friend Karen handles them now
as I handle all the military messages. We've got over 800 volunteers
now, and I'm working at least 16 hours a day on this. It's worth every
bit of it.

How is Michael? I haven't heard from him since last May and finally
just gave up trying. I think about him so often and miss him. We were
having a rough time at the time he last wrote--Jim was laid-off--and
mail was the last thing on my mind.

Hugs to you, Gina, and the little ones!
Ellen

Hi Amanda,

Thanks for the nice email.... it will be very nice to hear how things progress on your Willys... I too am a fan of Willys (but also a fan of comfort so I wimped out and turned my TJ into my version of a Willys).

As for the color of your Willys... go for the red... after all; it is YOUR Willys Right??? Tell your dad he can paint his Jeep tan with red wheels...

I don't know if you have started your scrap book yet... but if you haven't, you should go out now and purchase one and then put the pictures and notes in it as you go... this will make it much easier than sorting through everything after you finish AND it will have the added benefit of giving you and your dad an organized reference for when things get put back together.

Keep up the good work Amanda.

Kind Regards,

Tokyo Joe West

Sunday, March 23, 2003

Today was a great day to work on a Jeep and an even better day to start the long process of restoring a 1951 Willys CJ-3A. As some of you may know my father, John Halverson, and I, Amanda, have acquired a Willys Jeep for the sole purpose of restoring it and giving it to me when I turn 16. We have been doing little things to it like changing the oil and fixing the brakes but today we finally started in on the big tough stuff!

First we took off the hood, after carefully taking pictures and writing on index cards so as to not forget how to put it back together. We then put paint stripper on it. We got a little anxious while waiting the grueling 30 minutes for the paint remover to work so we decided to take off the left fender, more taking pictures and writing. While the LEFT fender sat with the paint stripper on it we took off the RIGHT fender.

We worked and worked with putty knives scraping and s! craping, both wondering silently about the burning sensation in our hands. I could no longer stand the pain and voiced my discomfort. We both realized that it probably wasn't the best idea to let something that could virtually melt paint on our bare skin. Two pairs of gloves each and about 4 coats of paint stripper later we discovered that there had been about 5 separate coats of paint on the hood and one or two various blotches of lime green.

We have it mostly stripped down, we had to stop because a recent illness had left us (me) slightly weaker than normal. As we came down to the last coat of paint I noticed that the Willys lettering was orange and the rest of the hood tan. Is this normal to have the lettering a different color?, and if so does the color of the letters usually coordinate with the color of, say, the wheels?

By the way I am having a little trouble deciding what color I should paint my Jeep. My dad is going for Harvest tan with Luzon red! wheels, while I want just the opposite. I think that it should be red so as to draw attention to the awesomeness of my Willys. Please email me with your opinions and comments lil_willys_jpr@yahoo.com

Thanks for listening to my little story of today's events, I hope it wasn't too boring! Please respond with any information you have, it is GREATLY appreciated.

Amanda Halverson

Mike,

I suspect that Scott, like I, support our troops but not the decision of our president to go to war. There is a subtile difference between the two. Also... I didn't find that Scott's "warm and fuzzy" comment to be invasive? In fact, it is probably true that people get warm and fuzzy inside by doing something they believe in.
Remember how you and I felt after the Rodeo Fire Relief Run? Warm and Fuzzy is a pretty good description eh?
Take care man...

I agree that everyone has the right to their own opinion. I said that in my message. When you call people that are actually DOING SOMETHING, "armchair quarterbacks", that is ridiculous. What are you doing? Sitting at your comp. callingnames of poking fun ("warm and fuzzy inside" comes to mind). If you have another opiniono of why we shouldn't be there, please, explain yourself. I have my views but am open to hear other thoughts and ideas. I, as much as most anyone, don't like war. But, at this time, I think that it's the only option we have left. What do you think Scott? Instead of trying to shade your views and avoid giving your opinion, share with everyone why you believe the way you do. Use that right that our troops are defending instead of hiding behind it.

USO in California to be shipped overseas to our Troops. The following

This is the first year the Outdoor Recreation Fair will combine Recreation
Information for over 20 agencies with a hands-on work day at South Mountain

not all been decided upon. There is always project work to be done, and a
