As we started to work on callout/activation procedures, the first thing that was decided is that there should be list of approximately 5 people that are first contacts. So, as Lost Louie or Stuck Sally need to call for help themselves or their friends and family need to activate this group, this core group of 5 will be the first contacts. Once one of them are contacted, they will then follow procedures to notify and ready the rest of the group as needed.

At this time, the responsibility of the 5 on the first contact list should be normally available by cell phone. Once contacted, their responsibility would be to collected needed information and broadcast the activation to the rest of the group. Kind of like a calling tree in ways. If someone needs help, we didn't want them to be confused on who to contact. Making a list of 5 is a way of keeping it simple and making it easier to keep those 5 trained on activation procedures.

So, if this is something you would like to do, nominate yourself. If you know someone that you think would fit this role, nominate them. The list of names will be collected and 5 members will be voted in at the next meeting.

Once this has been sorted out into a definitive SOP (standard operating procedure), this would make a great sticky on this forum.

I'm very happy to see that even though I am overcommitted and have not had the time I would desire to dedicate to roping in all of these tasks - someone does. :)

If I may make a suggestion in regards to call out procedures.....

I think that it may be good to also divide the state up into sections and each section have one or two people that really know that area be the primary and secondary POCs (Points Of Contact). These folks that know the areas the best should be tied in to assist in the direct of any SAR op in their AO (Area of Operation). As an example: I don't know Table Mesa as well as I do White Tanks so if someone were missing or stuck or?? out at White Tanks, I could be one of the primaries for organizing routes and such. You would in no way want me to have anything to do down in Florence (unless it is on the military side of the house) since I have yet to wheel there, Table Mesa I know better but not as well as White Tanks.

Great call. As far as searching or finding someone on a trail broke, I'm way more comfortable out at Table Mesa and White Tanks. I know both areas pretty well and would have no problem finding rigs on trails........Drew
