If you do and have a skid plate for the engine it can be a mess! I also own a VW TDi with a alloy oil pan and they are easy to strip out so that where I got this idea from...:drummer:

A quick drain valve or (Futumo valve)! What a concept....

You can get the standard with a oil drain plug or one with a nipple for a hose so no more spills in the garage!!

My concern is how far it sticks out. This looks like a valve ripped off by a rock on the next 2 rated trail....:aagh:

I would like to get my hands on one before I bought in to it.

I've had one on my Jeep since new (4+ years). The Skid Row skid plate has a hole for draining the oil, the problem is most of it gets on the skid. With the valve there and a short piece of hose, it drains right into the bucket.

Works good IF you have a skid protecting it.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n275/roknrich/DSC04486.jpg

Yeah, you can't see it, cause the skid is protecting it...........

BTW, the Nth skid is still for sale- chicks dig flat skids

Real world feedback, not webwheeling. :mickey:

Cool...I still haven't got all the oil off my junk from last time. I have a Skid Row also...so nothin' is gonna get to that valve. I'll get one.

Jason,
If you get one let me know, I would like to see one up close. I am thinking I could fab up a piece that would protect the snout on the thing and keep it from getting knocked off.

Ease of use = 10

For everyone ? Certainly not. I had the Skid Row engine skid, the oil would get caught on the skid and make a mess when I drained it before. Now I use the valve with a 6" piece of tube on the end, the oil drains in the bucket and not all over the skid.

I've never hit it with a rock, but had a skid for a long time, I am currently running skidless so this thread has probably just jinxed it..............:aagh:

I wouldn't recommend it to people not running an oil pan skid........

Got one of these about 20 years ago for the inboard/outboard boat.

Much better than pumping oil out of the dip stick.

You put in one of these with a hose that can be directed out of the drain plug hole.

Much less mess and you get the sludge out of the bottom of the pan.

Doesn't Fram still make the Quik drains? pretty much the same concept and is pretty much just an oil plug replacement. Heres a link to jegs seems that the fram server is down. Happy draining. lol

LOL...the protopipe! er...I mean, what is that?

I have the futumo valve and it's totally protected by a jeep medic engine skid. The nicest part is that you don't need any tools to do an oil change. I've read that people complain that it's slow, but I'm usually checking out other stuff on the jeep while it's draining so by the time I check it, it's done.

Yeah the proto-pipe with the built in chamber and poker that locked it all together! That thing was sweet! umm... well... thats what I was told anyway... I really have no idea... plead the 5th along with Alan!

1) HEY FOLKS, I could care less about what you did or did not inhale then or now and IF YOU DO NOT keep this on topic I will ask JP to start posting in here:skull:

2) That said the Fram setup in the link you provided appears to be the ANSWER to the issue that I have which is the pooling of oil in my pan skid that drains on my drive way for DAYS after an oil change.

Now I just need to figure out what threads and size my drain plug is...

Jdemonto@Airpark Jeep Sales

Don, the link says its a Size 1/2"-20 UNF You may want to double check just to make sure.

I am alsmost ready for my VW 10K oil change, just waiting on the Futumo Valve!
