I'm looking for some ford 8.8 spring plates, the ones I made bent after torquing them down.
Anyone locally have them or do I make some more.
thanks

i think desert fab has them if not make new ones, i had to go to half inch plate to stop mine from bending, but if you get the 1/4 inch plate and have it curled up on the sides like the factory ones it would be fine.

Well went to half inch, just finished making them tonite.
Gotta share this one, its hilarious
I go to a little steel yard close to the house up on bell and like 25 th st,
I've purchased a few things there as the owner knows me by site.
SO anyway go in and order two pieces of 1/2'' x 5'' x 6'' or 6'' x 5''
they write up the ticket and I saunter on out to get my steel, I wait a bit till the fella comes over, in the mean time I spy a cutoff in the short stack pile and point it out, the fella measures it and says its 6'', I answer "and"
its the wrong size, I pipe up and say just cut it 5'' long and we'll have a 6'' x 5'' piece. He gets all indignant and tells me its not the same, I tried to explain, but having been in construction management for years I know when to cut my losses and move on.
I spent the next twenty minutes waiting for him to pull out a 20' stick of 1/2'' x 5'' piece of steel, then he's working alone and cant get it to the shear, I mention we oughta cut the 6'' piece it;'s only 18'' long and easy to handle.
So the fella takes off and comes back with a wagon with a plasma cutter.
rounds up an air hose, and extention cord and finally cuts the piece, but not before I mention I need square clean ends, assuming he'll cut a 13'' piece or so and then shear it. Nope, he cuts it with a plasma cutter, pretty ugly and outta square, I go Hey it ain't gonna work man, I paid 5 bucks for a cut, that typically means a clean cut.
So the ole boy comes out of the office, wondering whats taking so long, when he see;s what junior has done, he looks at me, with the deer in the headlight stare, I'm smiling like the cheshire cat, then he says to the guy, " why in the hell didn't you cut it outta this 5'' stock, its right here in the cutoff bin.
I had to walk away it was so hilarious, anyway, after almost 50 minutes i left with some steel. All the while ole Tex just shaking his head.
Sorry it took so long to tell, just struck me as funny.

Yeah, I've used that place too, just cause it's close. Best to double check the yard guys before they cut or bend anything. I brought a plate back to have it bent after I machined it at work. I told him I wanted to double check before he pressed the button. Sure enough he had it in backwards. Ughhh. That would have wasted a bunch of my time. Wish I could bend more than 1/8" at work...
