So my buddy and my brother decided to go jumping a couple days ago right after our buddy had just finished his jeep up, things didnt go to well ill let the pics explain.

The total distance to ware he took off and landed was 64'
So the moral to the story is that jeeps arnt built for jumping :smug:

Looks like fun, while it lasted.
I remember in Highschool jumping my 1980 Impala on some railroad tracks. I landed next to a car coming the other way, the guys eyes were about as big a baseballs, but nothing broke, but I did have very deep cuts on the tire sidewalls from the fenders and sparks from hell. I had 7 people in the car at the time, Oh the stupidity of youth...

At least that one wasn't built for jumping! The jeep speed guys catch air all the time. They also reinforce the unibody, and suspension mounts quiet a bit! A least you got great pics!

Well it was his axle is what caused this the tubing on the right side tottaly ripped away from the housing, the end of the housing looks like a bannana peal, its pretty crazy his axle was pretty heavily gusseted also.
Nice Carnage!! The Jeep Speed guys also use 2wd drive beams with thick wall DOM inside of them.. The Stock D30 cannot handle this type of abuse.. Even with Gussets..
Sure looked good in the Air tho..!!

A guy I used to work with had an accident and the airbag went off and he was gripping the wheel pretty hard I guess because it popped BOTH his elbows out... OUCH! Glad he was ok...

Reminds me of "Smokey and the Bandit" - remember how you could see the front end of the Trans Am crumple on every landing, yet in the very next scene the car was in perfect condition?

How did the jeep in the first picture fair? Different Jeep
Second looks cool and all, but looks as if you have a death wish. Jumping a vehicle like that with NO CAGE, NO SUSPENSION SEATS, NO HARNESS, and I bet NO HELMET.:aagh:
NOT TO SMART in my opinion.

the first jeep is my brothers jeep it fared fine they both jumped it 3 times and my brothers held up fine our buddy just over shot the jump the 3rd time he landed about 23 feet past the landing so he landed in the flats, and my brother actually has beard seats, 5 point harness and he had a helmet on, but no cage. But i agree not smart at all thats why i dont jump mine :smug: But he plans to rebuild it but we will see how that goes the frame is bent pretty bad.

I used watch Dukes of Hazzard and sit on the edge of my seat and hope to see the car after the jump. It took some time before I realized it wasn't going to happen and the show then had no appeal
Great pics BTW i now know Jeeps don't jump well.
Every one saying this was stupid. I agree putting your life on the line like that. Some one could have gottin really hurt doing something so foolish.....
BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
Safty screw that!!! As long as they had fun and no one was hurt thats all that matters.
At some point in each and every one of our lives we did something that after wards granted a "holy dog ****, I cant believe we made it through that"
Its like I always say.
"After no fear comes hole **** hoss, better grab your panties and get ready this ones gonna hurt"
I remember acting like I was in the Baja1000 with my 79 Nova 4 door.
Oh yah and our play grounds were built over concrete.
Just my feelings on it.
It sucks to fix a broken rig but you cant replace that kinda fun with anything.

Are you serious, It only takes one thing to go seriously wrong when jumping a vehicle like that, then add no saftey equipment and a rig not built to jump like that just mulitiplys getting seriously hurt or killed.
Last month, I lost a friend by him doing a dounut and the rig flipped over, if he had his belts on he would be here today.
Last year a fellow wheeler died doing the same thing and was wearing a seatbelt, but no harness.
Yea nothing happened this time, but what next time?
Is it worth the risk for so called fun without the proper saftey equipment?
I race vehicles for fun, but I will always have the proper saftey equipment. !!
Todd
Don’t take things so seriously. And surely resorting to name calling is a bit immature don’t you think?
They had fun that’s all that matters they learned a valuable lesson and I’m sure next time all will go well.
I’m sorry to hear about your loss but belittling others for having the same fun well all did as kids or as adults or even as decrepit old folks is just wrong.
And if I died 4wheeling or cuttin cookies in some parking lot then it was well worth it. At least I died with a smile on my face.
I will not respond to any further post regarding this topic. If you take things out of proportion or misread into them you are only setting your self up to look like a fool.

I do take it serious!! I am all into having fun, but my life and fellow wheelers lifes are more important than not being safe in our hobby.
Where did I call anyone any names or belittle anyone????
The point I am making if you are going to have fun ,have fun but make sure you do it as safe as possible. The offroad community has lost to many of its own to simple things as not wearing a seat belt.
Setting my self up for being a fool?
