Need some help:
I recieved my CB antenna mount/stud/and coax..
the Coax is: Fire-Flex with a RG connector on radio end and a ring connector on the other---note that the ring connector is NOT a firering connector..just a regular ring and ground connector.
the stud is a Model K-4A...looks like it was made for a RG-RG cable....
My question in my limited expirience is this:
Can I use the fireflex with the Model K-4A stud???? Kinda worried about this, but I really dont want to do it all over and rip out my coax and ship it back....

I believe that you need a K4 stud instead of the K4A stud.

Or cut the ring and install a PL-259. You need to make sure you get a good connection and it shoudl work fine. But if all it comes down to is buying a different stud for like $5 I would do that.

Yeah, I think im going to go ahead and buy a different stud. 5$ is pretty cheap anyways.
The question I have (since this is different than the FireRing connector) is this:
I'm pretty sure I know how to mount the ring portion into the stud, but what do I do with the other wire? I assume Im supposed to wire it into the bracket as a ground?

Ok, Got the set-up installed. Tomorrow I will take pics to put on...to troubleshoot...Wait...Troubleshoot??!!
I hooked everything up, grounded the mount etc.. and hooked up the SWR that I borrowed from Dieter. Got in the car tuned to ch20 switched swr to FWD and pressed XMIT. tried to calibrate that so the needle pointed to the infinity sign...no avail al it got to was the 10 at max... just shy of the infinity sign... switched the SWR to REF and pressed xmit... needle jumped all the way to the max of the box...way past the infinity.
Tried to adjust antenna length and had almost no effect--although adjusting was what made it get to the ten in fwd mode.. before I adjusted it only went to the 1.5
So Im thinking one of a couple possibilities.
1. Mount doesnt have sufficient grounding
2. I have a short in my cable (not likely, ran it very gently)
3. Or the way I have it mounted to the stud is way way out of wack...
(im confused)
--I commited the ultimate sin by not having a multimeter so..... im hunting this down via hit or miss....
