There is a radio and CB shop in Mesa on Main St. where I got my dad's for him a few years back. It's a Cobra model 18 or something like that? Anyway, picked it up for like $45 with an antenna.

I picked up a Cobra 75 WX early last week and it came in the mail this week. Ill post pictures up once I get it installed, but I like the idea of it all being in the handheld and not a bulky seperate box in my dash. It cost me about 85$ (which was a good deal, from a weather supply place) and I paid about 45$ for the antenna, cable and stud mound.. another 20 for the Teraflex mount though.......

The Pilot has the Cobra29LTD for $69 right now. You won't beat that...period.
OH yea! well the Nimbus 2000 has 2000 channels able to talk to space aliens. and a loud speaker so you can yell at A-Holes from a mile away. and 64 foot antena. so you can poke someones eye out! And a time machine. so you can go back and fix your junk before it breaks on the trail. and a SMG. that mounts to your hood so you dont have to wait at any more red lights!

I wanted a Nimbus but cash flow made be get the Campbell's Tin-Can-2 AM system. It's hard to keep the string taught between the Jeeps. I carry an extra spool of 500' twine in case I want to do some DX.
RE: Cobra29LTD for $69 right now

I see those firestik II antennas on a lot of jeep pictures. Would one of those be good to get? Do I want 4 or 5 foot? How do I mount it?
Can you guys put up some of your antenna pics?

Most put them on the tire carrier. We have a 4ft firestick and a Uniden pro 520 Total was about 100 for antenea and cb at Apollo

Hit the yard sales! I've picked up 3, each for under 10 bucks each. 1 Cobra 29... the old one that is easy to mod. 1 cheapy radio shack with weather radio...works good. One Uniden PC88. Then with the money saved get a good antenna and you'll be race ready!

Truck stops-any of them! Your gonna get a better radio for less money. The ant. is way cheaper there as well. I got mine at cb exchange, and 2 weeks later found it for half that price at a pilot truck stop. regretted that ever since then. They arent cb snobs at truck stops either, unlike the "experts" at the cb shops..

I've picked up 3 for less than 12 bucks each at Goodwill at different times. The one toward Apache Junction at Signal Butte tends to have them fairly frequently.
For the Jeep Jam, I didn't have a rig installed, but I had an "emergency" GE CB from the 70s. It came in a box with a huge walkie talkie style radio, 40 channel, a magentic base collapsible antennea and a cig lighter adapter.
Big orange push to talk button..this unit was designed to be moron proof.
Wound up in an impromptu caravan in search of the elusive Challenge 2 and 3.
So..pulled it out of it's box, stuck on the antenna and fired it up for the first time.
Crystal clean xmit and audio and instant setup made this $6 device a winner...
It goes to my Avalanche when wheelin season ends and I install one of the $10 units sitting on the shelf..

We have an old (30+years) Radio shack CB that was given to us many years ago, still use it for vehicles that don't have one installed. Plug it into the cig. lighter and screw in the magnetic antenna, works like a charm. Sometimes I think the old ones are better. At least that's what Sharon says about me.....
