So I talked to my mechanic who runs a jeep and I was asking him about my mileage and if I can get better mileage am I stuck to 200 miles to the tank ?
Or can I improve this ?
Hope this isn't a dumb question.

Hate to sound like a jerk, but you didn't buy the jeep for good gas mileage did you? If you want good gas mileage, sell the jeep.
Now for a more constructive answer. There are many things you can do that will help, but most of them tend to move away from the Jeep being good off road. Smaller lighter tires for example. The best you could do for a DD is to take out all the tools and spares and other crap in the Jeep during the week. 50-100 lbs really makes a difference. Driving more conservatively, like not slamming the skinny pedal when the light turns green will also help.

I am running 33" MTR's and im getting around 250-280 on a tank mostly city driving. I dont run the AC much and have the top, windows and door off, so im probabally not getting the best aerodynamics. But again you dont buy them for gas mileage. Im not a wimp driver either, I usually am the first across the intersection. :P
Keeping you tires properly inflated, takeing extra weight out and trying to time your arrival at stop lights so you not have to stop, dont lose your forward momentum, are just a few things that will help.

X2.... Its a Jeep not a Honda.
But it all depends on what your runnin'. What size tires ya runnin'? Did ya do the gears to compensate for the added engine load? I got a '94 with well over 200K miles. I'm gettin around almost 17 MPG. Just depends on which way the wind is blowin', its a 4 cyl...

No lol I didn't buy it for the mileage figured I would get ****ty mileage but just not this ****ty.
Running the 4 banger def. isn't helping and I've stripped out most of my heavy items tires you know I'm not really sure they are the ones that the guy had on them and I'm just using them until they are FUBAR'ed
But I'm heavy on the gas that is the only bad part about my driving I speed except in photo radar sections lol
NO A/C either I feel like I am 10 lbs. lighter when I reach my destination.

Heres yer problem.....
doing 5-10 over isnt really all that bad...its flogging it all the other times..and on the gas right up to a stop light, or downshifting to stop takes fuel also.
I normally shift around 2-2500 rpms, adn stay right about 65 on the freeway...unless Im running late which doesnt happen very often..and then I can tell the fuel mileage suffers...
Im at about 5 in lift, on 35's with black steel wheels and 4.88's. Lots of extra armor weight, winch, cage, skids, bumpers, hardtop, etc..and Im not the skinniest kid on the block.
I get about 15 with the 6 cyl....

The name dirtykorean I got from paintball and it's most of my screen names so it's easy to remember when login in to something, plus I'm half korean and when I go to 24 hour paintball events I'm pretty dirty by the end of the weekend.
The Plan: once most of my bills get paid off I'm going to do some major work but until then it's just the things that come along that need to be fixed, Bought off some mom and pop place that hosed me but I have a good mechanic.
