Hello names Adam Im completly new to jeeps always been a chevy man.
After selling my 07 D-max ($500 a month in diesel) I decided to buy a 92 xj, So far Im very happy with it. And I hope to get more and more into the jeeps.

I took my jeep off road today for the first time and I have to say its certainly not a 3/4 ton diesel but it was alot of fun.

I hope to meet some new people and find some good trails

Adam Welcome! Another XJ from Glendale ALLRIGHT!!!
Let me know if you ever need anything, I have quite a few tools for fabrication work when you are ready to build up a little more. And I'm one of the few of us XJ's on the trail with this group.

Well I appreciate the offer. And just maybe might take you up on that. :)

Ill get some pics on here shortly havnt takin any yet. Right now shes running a 4 inch rancho with 35's ( came on the jeep) I had to block up the rear two inches due to tire rub on the fenders at full articulation it still rubs pretty good so another two inches it will go.

Im trying to find a 12 inch lift for it but it seems Im gonna have to build my own. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Holy crap!!! :osama: Try bumpstop extensions first. You do NOT want a 12" lift for an XJ. Heck, you do not want a 12" lift for ANYTHING!!! An XJ has no frame, it is a unibody construction. It will not hold a 12" lift and work correctly without tearing itself apart for anything but a mallcrawler. A little snip and trim would be a much greater benefit. The most lift I have even seen on an XJ that actually wheels is an 8" kit with 37" tires. That is a lot for an XJ. Just my $.02, it is your rig.

Well I come from a 3/4 ton backround and we always went big.

If bracing is needed then that wont be a problem. But perhaps an 8 inch would be a little better. Yall know better then me.

I look forward to any suggestions.

Welcome from another Adam. Wagons rule!!!

BTW.....12 inches is way too much! Like Lance said..8'' w/ 37's, full width, and substantial trimming is the only way to go if you are wanting to "go big" with an XJ.

Of course then you're spending more on fuel by getting worse mileage than you were with your Dizzle :smilielol5:

i say 3 link front leaf or 4 link rear 6-8 inches of lift, chop/plate wheel wells ,full width, 38's exocage. Welcome
until then put some skid plates on and ride.

Welcome to the club, like you I am also new. But there is always fun out wheeling. Jeeps can be costly but thay are defently well worth it so far. If and when you are ready to go out for some wheeling let me know I am over here in west phoenix also.

Well tonight I took her out on her first real run. And I gotta say Im very impressed with the jeep. My duramax couldnt do half the things the XJ did.

I broke an exhaust mount and trashed my balancer and blew out my fuel pump.
But its got 178k Im surprised thats all that broke.

I went out on a trail that I tried running in my d-max a while back and it couldnt make it but the little jeep did. These jeeps are looking better and better everyday.

12" lift WOW

With a Jeep you'll need to change the thought process. The lower the better unless you have a really good cage and like to use it. You will want just enough lift to clear the tires and articulation your after. Big tires means you need lower gears. There is tons of great info on this site and people that are more than willing to help.
