So if I put my 4" front springs in back I should get 7" and then I'll need f150 springs for the front to match?

Hey Michael,
You end up with 3 in. of lift. I had this on my jeep from 97 till 01 road great. I made a 3 in. spacer for the front, with correct shocks it'll ramp about 950. The f-r springs rate is almost the same.

My question for the group is
If you put the front coil (stock ) from a TJ in the back, what amount of lift woul it equal, and how hard would it ride? What size spring would you need for the front?

List -

I would like some ideas on what to replace my leaking exhaust. I tried to do a search, but this search engine isn't the easiest to find stuff. I have already tried the dealer and was told I didn't have a leak. Came home taped my air hose to the exhaust pipe and used soapy water. Found a few leaks near the engine, one before the cat and one after the cat. Dealer still says not a leak. Anyway.... I am going to replace my stock exhaust and I would appreciate some input from the group. Input on an aftermarket exhaust not what to do about the *****hole service rep..PLEASE.

Thanks,

Yeah, like I said... The shackle attaches to the eye of the
leaf pack that is *NOT* attached to the half pack. Isn't this what
is commonly called a "buggy spring"???

Oops! I got it- shackle goes between the springs, eye of main
leaf goes to frame.

I have no idea if it would work, I am guessing it wouldn't, but, I
have some stock springs if you want to borrow them and try it. It
wouldn't be too hard to switch them out.

This statement was sarcasim and meant to get people's attention, and promote discussion, which I think has been acomplished.

Brandon has been around long enough to know what this group is all about, that is what makes this truly unfortunate. This is why Brandon chose to trust this fellow member with his hard earned cash, to purchase what he thought was a good deal on a nearly new winch. We continually post and read about our good experiences with one another, it is easy to forget that all people are not necessarly honest and not always good people. There are those who will and do take advantage of every oportunity. It is really a shame to believe that there are those type of people in within this group, but this seems to be the case.

Several phone calls were placed to the seller in this case, Ray Bratton, all were answered with a thumb of the nose and a too bad so sad attitude. Brandon even offered to pay half of the repairs of the winch, wow, this is more then he should have had to do!!! The seller offered a nearly new product, (Used Once!), any reasonable person would expect a working item. If I for one were to buy a product under these circumstances, I would expect my money back in no uncertain terms.

Should the buyer beware, absolutely! Should you be more trusting of people within our group, I would like the answer to be absolutely! We obviously do not know every member so we must do what we can to watch out for each other. Now that we know this type of person is out there, we must remember and encourage our fellow members to be careful when buying and be honest when selling. I don't know if any other members know Ray Bratton, but if they do, I would hope they would pick up the phone and encourage him to do the right thing. For those of us who do not know him, we do now....unfortunately!

Maybe we need to have a list like E-Bay, with good and bad experiences for buying and selling. I'm just thinking out loud, I realize there are problems with this idea. This hurts us all and I for one will not forget this in the future.

All.........
Another issue re Sycamore Clean up............... this mess is, for the
most part, OHV mess so we truly do need to be responsible with this.

The other issue is I NEED you all to show because I've been working with the
Tonto NF for a year now in trying to get them to apply for a grant to allow
US to build a "play area" (kiosk of information, tables, potties, tire pit,
log climb, rock crawl, etc.....) in this area, leaving the management and
control to US !!!!! The responsible recreationist will have to step up and
start EDUCATING the newbies!............. If we don't do something like
this the area WILL be closed.

Closure, IMO, is a stupid solution simply because these guys will simply
move down the road a mile and start all over again. The area is already
destroyed................ how about us making this into a "play area" for
all?

It's going to take some numbers to show FS we can put our actions where our
mouth is! JOIN IN.......

reymert. The entrence to reymert mine off of US 60 east of Gonzales

was there back in April or May of 2002 and there was no gate. The
road that leads from Mineral mountain road to Reymert mine is now
Bulldozed this trail leads past the LULU 2 mine, down a rocky wash

There are some claims around Reymert, but no active mining. The more recent
mining activity is on the other side of the mountain to the east.

At Reymert, the remnants of the mill are there, but that's about it. Last
time I was there (2-3 yrs ago or so), it was readily accessible, but you can
drive right by it if you're not looking.

No you don't want to do that spring rates would be different and the ride would be horrible. You don't want to go too high with out some sort of long arm, the arms get to steep of angle. I now have f-150 springs at all 4 corners with other mod's to get about 12 in. of lift, rides pretty nice. But I also don't drive on the street very often, 39.5s+full width axles a bit much to handle.

Hey Michael,
You end up with 3 in. of lift. I had this on my jeep from 97 till 01 road great. I made a 3 in. spacer for the front, with correct shocks it'll ramp about 950. The f-r springs rate is almost the same.

Don't change it!!
A 47 in mint condition is something to be restored, not modified.
These older Willys are getting harder and harder to find, it would be a
shame to waste one when a cj5 or 7 can be gotten for the same money, they
are a lot more common, and a lot easier to modify. Parts are more readily
available ( both aftermarket and stock).

Hello;

Have you checked the toe in? If the front tires have too little toe in or
especially if they have any toe out at all it can act like you describe,
not just with ruts in the road though. If they have any toe out the
vehicle will try to follow whichever tire happens to have the most traction
at the time. Also check for loose or worn front wheel bearings.

Have you tried rotating your tires (put the rear tires up front)?

Just my 2¢

Have a good day
Brad

That may be the exit (or entrance) trail at US60. Reymert itself is in a
canyon off a wash road, on the west side/slope of the hills/mountains. The
quickest way there is to take Mineral Mountain Road (off of US 60 - east of
FJ). Head south on MM, and when you drop down a small hill and get to the
first cattle guard (I think it's the first), by a large mesquite tree,
you'll need to head left (easterly) into a wash. The wash is the old Reymert
Rd. Follow that wash/road a ways, and keep an eye on the right for a stone
masonry embankment...wish supports the road turn off to Reymert. You have to
make a 120* turn up the road and you'll see what's left....remnants of a
brick masonry mill. There are a number of claim stakes around, and some
foundations of buildings, but that's about it. Makes for a nice lunch spot,
though.

To get to where your talking about (before it was apparently blocked), you
go back to the wash and continue up, and you'll come to a steep hill and a
saddle. When I was there a couple of years ago, you could see how they tried
to block the road, but it was no biggie to go up over the berm. The main
mining area is on the other side (eastern side) of the saddle.

Subject: Re: [Tech] '86 CJ7 - Looking 4 REASONABLE engine/tranny swap

I am in the process of building up a 360 AMC V8 for my jeep. I was lucky enough to find a complete motor with all the brackets for 20 bucks. It will bolt right up to your jeep with very few changes. If you plan on doing it this way make sure you find a complete motor because the parts can be hard to find. like the brakets and stuff like that.

I want to swap out my straight 6 for a V8 and mate it to an auto tranny. Anyone have info? I have the cash now so I'm dying to move on this project.
Appreciate any help!!

Subject: Who make the quater circle speaker mounts for the roll bar corners

Help everyone. Can someone on this list tell me who make the speaker pods
that are basically the shape of a quater circle that mount overhead in the
corner of the roll bar where the main hoop and the side bars meet? I'n not
looking for a sound bar just the individual pods that mount in the corners
overhead!

Thanks,
Duffy
