I'll have it out this weekend. It's from a 2001 XJ with 45K miles, and is complete drum-drum.
I'll sell it for $200 or trade for R&P; swap labor. (I have the parts, not the know-how!)
Must pick-up in Flagstaff.

Take a look at where the hard line mounts to the body (the part where the steel fits to the rubber line) You can relocate that mount point, and gain a lot of slack for the flexible rubber portion. That’s what I did for my TJ, but it should be the same concept. (see picture below)
My finger is at the stock mount point, and you can see where it is now.
I have a 4 " lift, and get approx 17" droop without straining the line.

I think that is B/S. I have done a few dealings with members and have never
had a problem. More often than enough, we are always there to help other
members. Members give stuff away, trade and sell and with the exception of a
few others (if they were real jeepers they wouldn't be doing this). Don't
let this experience ruin your potential fun with the club. These guys are
great and I wouldn't want to be in any other club. By the way TJ Gill, the
rack is on top of the XJ. I bent the legs to a 90 degree and placed rubber
between them and the roof. Right now I just have it straped to the roof to
see how it works (bouncing, collapsing) the roof. So far so good. I even
mounted my Hi-Lift to it last night. See, another great trade, roof rack for
a set of rims. See you on the trail some time. Jeff (TJ) 96 XJ GrapeApe

home with the winch excited as all get out, hooked it up and nothing
happened but a click! I called ray, he said its prolly a cellinoid but had
no explination as to how it would go out between my house and his, he
suggested I try replacing the part. I got the part at 4Wheelers Supply but
thought I had better not try to fix it since I know nothing about winches.
I called Ray and told him the winch dont work, I want my money back, he
said fine he has another buyer anyway, then decided he wanted to try to fix
the winch himself on wednesday. I took the winch to 4wheelers this
morning, steve calls me about 4 to tell me the motor is blown and wants
$240 to fix it. I called ray to tell him I dont want his winch and he says
too bad I already spent the money, I told him he advertised a almost new
winch and this is definately not, he did not care. I even offered to pay
half the repair, he reminded me again that he already spent the money, I
said you can pay me later, he said he has a car payment and needs to pay
his probation officer ect.... Is this the way business is normally done on

Subject: 3/4 elliptic
(I think Groupwise ate my original post, so hope this isn't a duplicate)
Anyway, am considering doing a 3/4 elliptic on the rear of my YJ at the same time I do my axle swap (D35 to 8.8). I don't see anything really negative about the suspension, but I am still running the stock slip yoke and drive shaft. I've got about 4+" of suspension lift (3.5" springs, .5 - .75" shackle). Have not had any issues with the d/s so far, and figure the 8.8 will actually lower the rear of the Jeep a bit due to the larger axle tube diameter (I'm SUA).
Has anyone run a 3/4 elliptic before? Any comments?
Lastly...anyone got a spare YJ spring pack laying around that they'd like to part with???
Thanks,
Tom J.

"Is this the way business is normally done on AZVJC?"
This statement was sarcasim and meant to get people's attention, and promote discussion, which I think has been acomplished.
Brandon has been around long enough to know what this group is all about, that is what makes this truly unfortunate. This is why Brandon chose to trust this fellow member with his hard earned cash, to purchase what he thought was a good deal on a nearly new winch. We continually post and read about our good experiences with one another, it is easy to forget that all people are not necessarly honest and not always good people. There are those who will and do take advantage of every oportunity. It is really a shame to believe that there are those type of people in within this group, but this seems to be the case.
Several phone calls were placed to the seller in this case, Ray Bratton, all were answered with a thumb of the nose and a too bad so sad attitude. Brandon even offered to pay half of the repairs of the winch, wow, this is more then he should have had to do!!! The seller offered a nearly new product, (Used Once!), any reasonable person would expect a working item. If I for one were to buy a product under these circumstances, I would expect my money back in no uncertain terms.
Should the buyer beware, absolutely! Should you be more trusting of people within our group, I would like the answer to be absolutely! We obviously do not know every member so we must do what we can to watch out for each other. Now that we know this type of person is out there, we must remember and encourage our fellow members to be careful when buying and be honest when selling. I don't know if any other members know Ray Bratton, but if they do, I would hope they would pick up the phone and encourage him to do the right thing. For those of us who do not know him, we do now....unfortunately!
Maybe we need to have a list like E-Bay, with good and bad experiences for buying and selling. I'm just thinking out loud, I realize there are problems with this idea. This hurts us all and I for one will not forget this in the future.

Subject: Re: tranny cooler lines
I recently had to replace one of the leaking fittings on my 93 ZJ
transmission cooler lines. I am sure the 97 automatic is most liklely
set up the same way. The transmission cooler lines have clips that
snap into place. You might need pliers, but most likely finger
pressure will be enough to disconnect the lines. You will lose a
little transmission fluid, but not enough to be a problem. If it has
been leaking for quite a while, I would suggest an fluid change to
make sure you have the correct amount in the transmission.
This might be a handy hint. If the clips are separate parts they are
probably the same at both ends. They were on the ZJ with the AW-4.
Jeep redesigned the cooler lines so that they [Jeep] say you have to
replace the entire line, but there's a good chance the same clip will
work at both ends. If you have to buy the lines, they shouldn't cost
more that $40-50 from the dealership. The clips for the AW-4 cost $13
each so there is a little savings if you don't have to buy the entire
line.

I would be happy to help anyone else do this, but I am not really looking to go into production.

Jeff (TJ) 96 XJ GrapeApe

cluth because it wasnt mounted, and goofy me I trusted him. I drove strait
home with the winch excited as all get out, hooked it up and nothing
happened but a click!
Is this the way business is normally done on
AZVJC? This is my first experience buying from the classified section and I
feel like I took the high hard one. From: AzVJC Website

Is this thing for real? It looks like something he just made to rip somebody

from AZVJC members.
I have bought:

33x12.5 tires
rock sliders
new top with frame
upper door windows
tonneu
wind jammer
jacobs ignition
quick air II

someone that was not honest. Ray if you are reading this you should
caugh up the cash and pay for the repairs.

The clips for the AW-4 cost $13
each so there is a little savings if you don't have to buy the entire
line.

didn't point it out. I haven't noticed any "remnants" on the ground
after parking so I'm not sure if it's actually leeking. I will most
likely be out your way sometime in the next few days to pick up a
roof rack. I will hopefully know the night before I go and I'll
email you to let you know I'll be coming down. I'd only like you to
look at it to verify that there actually is a leek and maybe I can
find some time (and a place) to do it myself. Also, I haven't had a
chance to put the locker in yet so I can't tell you how it's
working. It's on my table by the front door and every time I leave
the house I hear it calling my name. I'm really itching to get it
on...hopefully soon.
