Subject: [TR] Run for stockers interest?
Hi I am going to be at the cleanup this saturday at Sycamore creek &
thought that if some of the stockers would like to show up & clean
for a while I would lead a trail after the clean up. The trail is
easy & senic (if you like desert senery)(sp I am shure) This trail is
NOT chalenging for modified Jeeps so don't complain if you choose to
come. Sorry for that last line but the last ride I did for stockers I
got real sick of complaining by some of the modified guys that chose
to attend. Mods are more than welcome to come & maybe help some
newbies learn & have some fun.

Call Dean Cromer at 480-226-7920. He's looking for subcontractors
to be Cox TV-Phone-HSInternet installers. You need to have your own
truck, commercial liability insurance, commercial auto insurance,
tools, etc. They pay by the job and there are no benefits. I
checked it out and decided it's not for me, but maybe it's for you.
They're in Scottsdale Airpark. Good luck.

After reading this I can understand why this guy has a probation
officer, he's nothing but a thief! He had to know what he was
selling, IMO! I've only purchased one item from an AZ_VJC member but
it was as advertised and had no problems whatsoever. It was an item
that could not be "tested" at the point of sale so there was a
element of trust necessary on both parts. I hope there is a way to
blacklist a person that would screw over a fellow Jeeper like this.
If not, if ANYONE sees him posting other items for sale, RAISE THE
RED FLAG and warn the other club members. I hope his car breaks down
on his way to meet his probation officer!!!
Now climbing off my soap box.

said its prolly a cellinoid but had no explination as to how it
would go out between my house and his, he suggested I try replacing
the part. I got the part at 4Wheelers Supply but thought I had
better not try to fix it since I know nothing about winches. I
called Ray and told him the winch dont work, I want my money back,
he said fine he has another buyer anyway, then decided he wanted to
try to fix the winch himself on wednesday. I took the winch to
4wheelers this morning, steve calls me about 4 to tell me the motor
is blown and wants $240 to fix it. I called ray to tell him I dont
want his winch and he says too bad I already spent the money, I told
him he advertised a almost new winch and this is definately not, he

On the subject of jeeps and 4 wheeling, what is the deal with the
mining operation out on reymert rd just east of Gonzales pass in
Florence. You used to be able to drive through there, now there
is a gate, and they bulldozed another road that led into there. Does
anyone know of another entrance to get in that area without
trespassing on there property.

Great guy to boot. I still want to do Martenize with you some day.

Note: the other Ray can rot in H@ll for all I am concerned. I had a
deal to pick it up on sat & even paid a $50 fee to my CC company to
get the cash in time just to call him to pick it up & be told that he
sold it the night before. What a Jerk. Thanking my lucky stars now

Been a couple of years since I was there, but I was able to drive through to
Superior. At the mine, I had to search around a bit for the way out though.
I don't recall a gate, except near the top of the big hill, before (west of)
the mine, but it was old and open.

Do you think that this is the way business is normally done on the azvjc?
Come on... give me a break...
If you've been around our group longer than 15 minutes... you KNOW that this
is NOT the way business is done around here.
But here on the azvjc... just like in real life; you can't take off your
thinking cap just because you are dealing with another member UNLESS you
know this member OR you have good reason to believe in their integrity.
Ray Bratton will most likely apologize and return your money OR pay for the
charges to make your winch work as advertised... either this or he will find
another group to hang with who are more in line with his moral standards.
The group tends to have a long memory when it comes to one member yanking
another member around... this being said; there are ALWAYS two sides to the
story and hopefully you two can work it out.
Now... as you've said; you learned a hard lesson... if you don't know who
you are buying from, treat them as if they are just any other stranger and
be wary of what you buy. It really bothers me to say this, but the saying
caveat emptor applies even here on the azvjc... and don't ask rhetorical
questions asking if this is how business is done on the azvjc.
Ray... if you're reading this; and I'm sure you are... take a few seconds
and make this right. We all have bad days and make quick decisions... work
with this guy so we don't have to remember your name... Okay?
Kind Regards,
Joe West

I have also bought several items from the list.....
Full Rockkrawler lift kit, Conferr Roof rack, GPS, Tires, even a pop up tent trailer.
I have had nothing but good luck. Sorry to hear about your misfortune....
In the future, for all members.....noone is going to get butt hurt if you post a quick
post asking "hey, anyone know this Ray B guy -I am about to drop 600.00 on a winch and I dont know him from adam?" . Its always buyer beware on used stuff anyway but If you get people to vouch for him (that they had good experience with him or know him from the trail etc...) it will make you at least feel a little better going into the deal. It sounds like other people have had bad experiences with this jerkoff and might have been able to save you the heartache. I know this is too little too late for you, but maybe someone else might be able avoid it in the future.
The same can be said for retail shops as well. The group has tried virtually every shop in the valley....so we can probably give some advice. I personally am a loyal customer when treated well and will recommend the shops that have done so (ie:Kongs, 4 wheeler supply, etc). At the same time, if I get stiffed somewhere I am the first one to tell you not to go there (Jiffylube for one).
Just my opinion...(as usual......)

Now climbing off my soap box.

to his battery and turning it on so it made a clicking noise, he did
not want to engage the cluth because it wasnt mounted, and goofy me
I trusted him. I drove strait home with the winch excited as all get
out, hooked it up and nothing happened but a click! I called ray, he
said its prolly a cellinoid but had no explination as to how it
would go out between my house and his, he suggested I try replacing
I called ray to tell him I dont
want his winch and he says too bad I already spent the money, I told
him he advertised a almost new winch and this is definately not, he
did not care. I even offered to pay half the repair, he reminded me
again that he already spent the money, I said you can pay me later,
he said he has a car payment and needs to pay his probation officer

No, I would have to say that this is not the way business is usually

In contrast to your problem, I was the happy recipient of a Bestop

was virtually new (I don't think Steven ever had it on his TJ) and it

On the subject of jeeps and 4 wheeling, what is the deal with the
mining operation out on reymert rd just east of Gonzales pass in
Florence. You used to be able to drive through there, now there
is a gate, and they bulldozed another road that led into there. Does

I can vouch for Ray B. AZAV8ER as a great guy to do business with I
sold him my 87 XJ on trust & he came through just like clock work.
Great guy to boot. I still want to do Martenize with you some day.
John
Note: the other Ray can rot in H@ll for all I am concerned. I had a
deal to pick it up on sat & even paid a $50 fee to my CC company to
get the cash in time just to call him to pick it up & be told that he
sold it the night before. What a Jerk. Thanking my lucky stars now
but feel real bad for the guy that got ripped.

Actually dont depend on the garage door opener a good thief can reach
thru the top with a coat hanger and grab the latch the quick release
rope hangs from... Found that out from experiance cops said to run
a bolt thru the rail the the wheels travel in. When the door hits the
bolts the door stops dead have to rip the door off to get in.. :)

Been a couple of years since I was there, but I was able to drive through to
Superior. At the mine, I had to search around a bit for the way out though.
I don't recall a gate, except near the top of the big hill, before (west of)
the mine, but it was old and open.

that is a decent idea... but I actually use my garage for my jeep to
park in. so short of going through the side door to unbolt it... park
and rebolt essentially everytime I go some where I don't know that
that is gonna work to well for me.
Thanks anyway

Okay?
Kind Regards,
Joe West
Is this the way business is normally done on AZVJC? This is
my first experience buying from the classified section and I feel
like I took the high hard one.
