Roger,

I am picking up a Waggy 44 front end on Saturday morning. I will have
the 8.8 redrilled to match the front 6 on 5.5 pattern like you did with
your D44 rear end. I ultimately decided that hi pinion wasn't a big
issue. Look at this pic of my TJ with the low pinion 30 and you will see
why.

I am also getting the Waggy steering so I'll just run the knuckle over
setup. That Waggy tierod and draglink look damn beefy and should raise
my steering up 3-4 inches compared to my ORF steering. Supposedly the
length works fine with the TJs and Yjs. Which steering did you use on
yours?

Horshe****! Er... I mean, agreed! ;-)

I wasn't endorsing the Super 35 kit over the 8.8 swap. (Sorry if it
came across that way.) Instead, I was merely trying to point out a
possible issue that a lot of people might not think about until long
after the 8.8 swap was done and it was time for a front axle swap.

Where could I obtain one of these? What is the cost? This really

Hi Michael,

Do you know if this acceptable to Discount Tire? Many of us do business with Discount tire and Rick Beer treats us well and he bends over backwards to help us out& I think that selling these like this is not appropriate on the list if doing so is not acceptable to Discount Tire.

Im relatively confident, though not absolutely sure, that Discount Tire wouldnt want to warranty tires which were purchased elsewhere& and if you sell these certificates to someone, how can you guarantee that they were purchased at Discount?

I suppose if it werent for the fact that Discount Tire has done so much for many of us on this group& I wouldnt be sensitive to this post. Not trying to be the list-police but am trying to question.

Discount will sell you warranty certs for tires you bought elsewhere for about $20 each, as long as the tires have 90% or better tread left, and no visible damage. I would imagine they would record the serial # though. Otherwise why wouldn't I buy only 1 warranty to cover all 4 tires? I Agree with Joe, Rick helps us out, as do the some of the guys at Discount here in Tucson, so we shouldn't be trying to pull one over on them. Just my .02

Since I do my own oil changes, its part of my routine to check the
spare tire while the oil drains, you do it once or twice and it
becomes a habit. My two cents anyway. - Jose

Joe...list-police? NEVER!!! haha, j/k

In Mikey's defense, he may not be entirely, 100% wrong.

A few years ago I purchased 4 Super Swampers from Desert Rat. I
promptly went out and cut 2 down on their first run. (Now this was a
trail that I had done dozens of times with previous tires, and dozens
of times since the Swampers with my MT/Rs....and have yet to cut one
down). Needless to say I was a bit peeved that I paid good money for
what where supposed to be the best tires at the time (no MT/R's
yet). Yet it seemed like it would cost me at least $200 a weekend to
go wheeling, in order to replace weak tires.

I decided that the two replacements I would buy would be from
Discount Tire, so that I could at least get the warranty and have a
50% chance of a cheaper replacement in the future. I learned my
lesson the hard way about buying tires for my jeep without the
warranty.

However, upon purchasing them, the employee asked me if I had
warranty's on the other two, which I did not. He then offer to sell
me warranties on tires that I did not buy at his store, much less any
Discount Tire.

Now, on the flip side, I do not know if he was breaking any rules or
or not, as I was not about to question it.

In conclusion, Discount has sold warranties to customers (at least
one) on tires they did not buy at Discount. And since the warranties
are transferable (at least I have been told), then I would assume
that you could transfer the warranties on tires not purchased
there...but that may be stretching it a bit.

HOWEVER, before everyone jumps on my case, I am not saying this is
right...or wrong....only that a similar instance has occured.

Looking at the situation very objectively, it may not be ethically or
morally correct, but it may be correct by it's own definition.

Dan
