Just sold my Camaro this morning, and bought a Cherokee (87, 4.0L, 5 speed, 6" lift, 33's). I'm no stranger to 4x4s, have had quite a few over the years. Realized it was a mistake to buy anything but a 4x4, especially a muscle car, for me, lol.

Currently live right on the Apache Junction/Mesa border, considering moving to the west side (although that was based on where the hot rod action is..I may stay over here depending on where the good trails are).

Anyways, saying hi, can't wait to hit the trails :)

As long as you're in Arizona, you can find good trails. Welcome to the forum, and once again I'm the first to say....:worthless:

hahahaha...I figured you guys have probably seen plenty of otherwise basic XJs with a 6" lift and mud tires. I'll be taking some pictures tomorrow and post 'em up.

Headed out to Butcher Jones this afternoon just to do a quick shakedown run...or so I thought..yes, I know the cardinal rule - NEVER go wheeling alone. I didn't expect to actually be wheeling there. I figured a small hill or two, and I'd go home. Heh...not quite. First "small" hill I went up ended up being a 15 min long one. Ooops. :D

Anyways, pics!

I didn't get to take any good flexy shots, as my e-brake isn't currently working, and I didn't any decent spots to stop that were relatively flat (and didn't have the possibility of getting stuck there, lol)

I did come up with some minor issues, but I'll post those in the proper forums.

Hopefully the exhaust is one of the issues.

haha, yep, that's one of them :D Sent me for a loop at first...I couldn't hear it rattling/bouncing around on the pavement, but as soon as I dropped it in 4-LO and started moving, I heard a constant thumping noise that sounded awful lot like a severely worn CV joint. I was thinking bad u-joint as first, but the Jeep kept pulling, and I didn't want to stop on the hill. As soon I got to the top and got out, I noticed the exhaust hanging. I'll have to visit an exhaust shop this weekend and get some new pipes bent up for it.

Like I said - "yes, I know the cardinal rule - NEVER go wheeling alone."...I'm no stranger to wheeling, I know all too well from experience how things can go from no big deal to "oh sh**, we're screwed!" in a heartbeat. I just didn't want to be "that guy" who plans the outing, and then has to bail 100 yards into the trail because of some mechanical malfunction. :laugh2:

We do have a lot of XJ's in the club, but most of them are White. There is a reason for this and you are here just in time to find out why. Forecast for this weekend is 100+...... How's your air conditioning working? :D

air conditioning? pffft...air conditioning is for the yuppies! :D (AC is currently not working...I think the blower motor is dead, haven't gotten around to checking it yet). I'm considering repainting it in desert camo though.
