Here is a link to an online welding store I have been using, great service
good prices. They have some good deals on the Hobart 135 and the Miller
which I believe are the same company now. I bought a miller auto darkening
helmet from them, best price around

Hello All,
Chris Benner is leading a FR-42 trail run on Sunday, January 19, 2003.
When: 10am
Where: Meet at carfee highway and the I-17 at 10am. Leaving at 10:15 sharp
Rating: 3.0+
Length: all day
CB Channel: 4
Lets goto fr42 and look for mud puddles ;) I haven't wheeled since before christmas, Kinda itchin to get off the road.
Not framilar with this trail? its a very FLEXY trail. TJ's will have no issues. XJ's can expect fender damage. Lockers are not required, you can make it without them.. My buddy ran this trail bone stock with 31" tires, aired down to 10 lbs, no issues. The trail starts at bartlett lake and ends at indian wash.

Anyone have some input on Skyjackers 6 monolinear-leaf kit. We are trying to decide to go with it, or a spring over, or Procomp-coil.. Well be putting d44s in later and the total cost either route w/a SYE will be the same. So if anyone out there has any recommendation or pros & con, we would be very appreciative. We drive 3.5+ trails and use it for long highway trips.
Thnx,

Wow....what a turn out! I believe the count was 16, 15 SWB and 1 LWB. I pulled off the highway onto the Haul Road and there was already 8 or 10 vehicles prepping. We aired down, had a brief driver's meeting, and then hit the trail.
What we hadn't planned on was some type of OHV event (quads and motorcycles) running the same trail we were going to be on. All in all, it went pretty well. A few of quad/bike owners need a lesson or two on trail sharing, but the rest were courteous. I am thinking that when a Jeep has pulled over to the side of the trail to allow the faster OHVs to pass, the OHV driver should not nail the throttle once they have just cleared your front bumper....what do you think? Watching the stones and rocks fly is NOT cool, in my opinion. <
One of the TJs had a rear locker problem at the first obstacle. His passenger rear tire did not appear to be getting any power. Although the bypass was attempted, the TJ would push itself off the trail to the right with the slight off-camber slope and the extra drive power from the passenger side. It was decided to call it a day and not chance a worse situation further down the trail.
We stopped for lunch part way through the tail, leaving room for the OHVs to get pass us. There isn't much room on these ridge top trails, that is for sure.
After a nice lunch (beautiful weather and all), we started up and headed for the finish line. Since we made much better time than expected, it was decided to head back to the air up spot while making a detour to a small rock out cropping. Many played on the rocks, all taking turns trying different lines and techniques. I believe those with the lower gearing and/or higher clearance were the ones making less "noise". Plenty of pics were being taken so I assume some of them may find their way to a mail link.
Upon wrapping up the side excursion to the rock pile, we headed back to the highway, aired up, and said our goodbyes. While some of the faces were familiar and others were not, I had a great time and look forward to sharing another great day with you folks again!
Till next time!

OK guys........
Gary was correct......... there ARE "BIG" boulders in the middle of the
last waterfall of Bad Medicine. I don't think anything was "blasted" and I
truly do not think either the miner or BLM did this. Actually I KNOW BLM
did not........ if the miner did, quite frankly, I'd be surprised. IMO I
think some "wannabe" 4-wheeler was out there that was not capable of making
it up this waterfall and intended to "pry" some MORE rocks down from the
side to fill in some more and ended up with a very LARGE surprise. (BTW: as
of a couple of months ago this trek had been filled in and groomed so
throughly it was nearly a paved highway) Our group of 5 simply drove up it
so WHY this was necessary is beyond me.
Todd McCullen and a group met us on our way out today and they just called
and said they managed to MOVE the rocks down the sluice a bit further. It
is now passable but definitely not with a basic, locked vehicle. It will
take a vehicle with an extreme suspension and most likely one that does not
care about the vehicle body............. it will feel some pain.
Sorry for the attitude all.................... but this BS of stacking
rocks and GROOMING trails because they're too tough truly p*#*es me off. If
a trail cannot be done with using a "FEW" rocks to help through a tough
spot........(that you then UNSTACK) YOU DO NOT BELONG THERE. Florence
Junction has sooooooooooooooo many trails of all ratings it is truly beyond
me why it's necessary to ruin every hard core trail for those that CAN meet
the challenge. I am NOT pointing fingers and truly have no idea WHO did
this but if whoever did it gets this mail I hope you will
listen............. the extreme vehicles are losing their "challenge"
because too many are messing with these trails. "Please don't take the next
step WHEN you're ready or capable".
My $.02 but we did confirm it was definitely Bad Medicine........... BTW:
I believe we also found a way in that will allow us to bypass the Herring
Mine thusly the miner cannot stop us........... I'll post more on this
later.
Thanks to Joe Kearney for tagging along and thanks to Todd and Troy for
"moving the boulders".

I just received a phone call from someone telling me to "Mind my own
business." They "will do as they damned will please and it's not my place
to berate them for "trying" ANY trail".
To whomever............ WRONG......... when you are deliberately messing
with "my" challenge I most certainly WILL say something. BTW: YOU are the
ones that will get everything CLOSED to us and most likely will stop the
"OHV Recreational Area" to ever become reality. The BLM are adamant against
"making by-passes".............. whatever their reason....... right or
wrong.......... THEY will have the final say. I'm sorry you feel you do
not have enough "challenge" on the trails you do not have to wreak to do.
If this continues none of us will have any "challenge"........... we will
have the graded trails at best.
Also......... my apologies for the "error" in the second to last
paragraph.......... should read: "Please don't take the next step UNTIL
you're ready or capable". ..... Sometimes my mind works faster than my

Subject: [FS] Tow/ Camping Rig!!
Price: $3,500
Contact: (520)723-7918
OK Gang here it is again at a reduced price!!! 1974 Chevy 3/4T 4X4. Long bed, standard cab. GM corp. 14bolt with Detroit 'soft locker' in the rear, d44 front. High-Performance 350 4bolt LT-1 motor (less than 5k miles on eng) with LOTS of performance goodies!! The following have been replaced in the last 750 miles or less: Tires, front rotors &; pads, clutch, pressure-plate, throw-out bearing, main battery, sparkplugs, plug-wires, cap &; rotor and several other odds-n-ends. This truck will tow a 40' fifth-wheel camp trailer fully loaded and get 13mpg! Dual tanks (total about 47gal). Also included is a paint-matched 'pop-up' slide-in camper (sleeps 3 adults). 1985 'Fleet' by 'Four-wheel Campers'. It has the "arctic-pac" insulation option, galley sink, 2 burner stove, ice-box, forced air furnace, porta-jon, 5gal propane tank and 7gal fresh water tank. BONUS!! offer me close enough to my asking price and I'll throw in a Warn 8,500# winch with controls (needs to have motor rewound). This is an AWESOME truck, but 2adults and 2 5yo kids don't fit in the cab anymore. I MAY consider trades (full or partial) also (tent-trailer or ?).

Subject: Winch question
I'll be ordering a winch next week for the TJ, seems all this mud
(blah) likes to suck me in. So far I'm leaning for the Milemarker 10k
hydraulic winch. Most guys here run the electric (Warn/Ramsey)
winches on their rigs. I just notice alot of down time during cooling
cycles on long pulls. The three Jeeps that run the hydraulics just
crank in the cable all day long. I know the old "if it ain't
running, you ain't winching" line but..even if you are, the full pull
will drain that battery out fast.
I remember few years back the winch debate on here and was asking for
any input.
Right now the TJ is used on weekends on rut.occasional rock but alot
of mud packed trails. Sometimes those anchor points are few and far
apart.
Thanks and happy trails

To whomever............ WRONG......... when you are deliberately
messing
with "my" challenge I most certainly WILL say something. BTW: YOU are
the
ones that will get everything CLOSED to us and most likely will stop the
"OHV Recreational Area" to ever become reality. The BLM are adamant
against
"making by-passes".............. whatever their reason....... right or
wrong.......... THEY will have the final say. I'm sorry you feel you
do
not have enough "challenge" on the trails you do not have to wreak to
do.
If this continues none of us will have any "challenge"........... we
will
have the graded trails at best.
Also......... my apologies for the "error" in the second to last

OK guys........
Gary was correct......... there ARE "BIG" boulders in the middle of the
last waterfall of Bad Medicine. I don't think anything was "blasted"
and I
truly do not think either the miner or BLM did this. Actually I KNOW
BLM
did not........ if the miner did, quite frankly, I'd be surprised. IMO
I
think some "wannabe" 4-wheeler was out there that was not capable of
making
it up this waterfall and intended to "pry" some MORE rocks down from
the
side to fill in some more and ended up with a very LARGE surprise. (BTW:
as
of a couple of months ago this trek had been filled in and groomed so
throughly it was nearly a paved highway) Our group of 5 simply drove up
it
so WHY this was necessary is beyond me.
Todd McCullen and a group met us on our way out today and they just
called
and said they managed to MOVE the rocks down the sluice a bit further.
It
is now passable but definitely not with a basic, locked vehicle. It
will
take a vehicle with an extreme suspension and most likely one that does
not
care about the vehicle body............. it will feel some pain.
Florence
Junction has sooooooooooooooo many trails of all ratings it is truly
beyond
me why it's necessary to ruin every hard core trail for those that CAN
meet
the challenge. I am NOT pointing fingers and truly have no idea WHO did
this but if whoever did it gets this mail I hope you will
listen............. the extreme vehicles are losing their "challenge"
because too many are messing with these trails. "Please don't take the
next
step WHEN you're ready or capable".
My $.02 but we did confirm it was definitely Bad Medicine...........
BTW:
I believe we also found a way in that will allow us to bypass the
Herring
Mine thusly the miner cannot stop us........... I'll post more on this
later.
Thanks to Joe Kearney for tagging along and thanks to Todd and Troy for
"moving the boulders".

Don't let those cowardly A/H's get you down. It is exactly these types that
WILL ruin it for us all and those are just the ones that need to be contained,

It would appear so, but really, if I had a real choice they would all be the same color as yours. Thats my favorite color for a Jeep. I think they call it Baby Poop

This is my Jeep collection.
Which one would Jesus drive? Ill bet he would pick the Wrangler. If he wanted to make a quick trip to Hell to check on things, it is the only one that would survive the trip.

good prices. They have some good deals on the Hobart 135 and the Miller

MCC does, I am starting on Tuesday. But I would be up for a clinic from John, But isn't that bad business to teach your customers how to do your job? LOL

Count me in! Gateway CC isn't offering welding classes any more, which I was counting on taking. I'm ready! Tell me when and where!

Here's to the CHUMP, make your statements on the board, don't make anonymous calls to members residence.

Sandee,
Don't let those cowardly A/H's get you down. It is exactly these types that
WILL ruin it for us all and those are just the ones that need to be contained,
caught, and "educated" (if you know what I mean).

Bob&.and likewise, it was nice to finally meet you as well. I never got a chance to check out your CJ up close, but it sure looked nice from what I saw at a distance. Next time, I want to see it up close and personal!

It was great to finally meet you . . . .thanks for leading this trip. Had a great time.
