Hi all this is a jeep I bought after surgery cause it was low enough for the kids to climb in while I could not lift them. It runs good looks need some help. Needs a paint job and some body work. It is loaded has V.I.C., overhead console, pw,pb,tilt,cc,dual power seats, power mirrors,pw,pdl, keyless entry, Green with tanish interior. 12x,000 miles 249 transfercase. Price is pretty firm this is what I have in it. If I canot sell it for this I will finish up the body &; get it painted for retail sale just thought this would save me some work &; anyone interested some money. The title is good. Will give buyer the option for $150 extra, front tow hook kit &; x-case,gas tank skid.

Joe....too much assumption (or is it circumstantial evidence?) on your part
and no good data to defend them.
Sure, a thief just might take it to a metal building to strip it, and then
again, he might take it to his buddy's back yard or garage too.
One thing is for certain....you ARE guaranteed that flipping that switch
will do nothing to get your rig back once when it is towed/hauled away. You
can't say that about lo-jack, regardless of badly you want to (and you
obviously do). :)

There not the same. SOA is Spring Over Axle. It's a fairly easy thing to do,
if you have a welder. But it takes some know how to do it right. It also
will require front/rear driveshafts, brake lines purches. Shackle reversal is
moving the front spring shackle from the front of the spring to the rear on
the front spring.

Well, you have indicated to me by your statements that your current
knowledge level wouldn't support doing either correctly by yourself or with
somebody, if that's your intent.
Perhaps you should consult a shop before considering modifications you know
little or nothing about.. Just an Idea, don't get all worked up over it..
The knowledge you seek requires more than just words on a computer screen.
You need some real world schoolin'!
I know it's tough being new to the sport, but the best advice I can give is
seek the advice of those who get PAID to give it!

In regards to LoJAck. The owner and founder is a good personal friend of my
families (grew up in the same neighborhood in Brockton Mass). For that
reason, this is a bit hard to say. It is a good product, however, I wouldnt
recommend purchasing one. The range of efficiency is limited by location. If
you are on the east coast...maybe... but whoever posted that the vehicle
would be across the border in Mexico by the time it was activated was
correct (for Arizona anyway). Only a select amount of Patrol Cars have the
receivers in them. Its usually a bit of luck that helps them get the car
back (or stupidity on the part of the crook). Many people have LoJack on
their vehicles and dont even know it (especially if they bought the car used
via rental or leasing company). I have seen the figures from NICB (National
Insurance Crime Bureau) on the amount of people that get caught with fraud
because they called their vehicle in stolen and the police knock on the door
and point them to the barn behind their house where they stashed it etc..
I could probably get a unit for my jeep for free and still havent done it. I
pay the extra premium on my insurance to cover my add on goodies and call it
a day. I am not sure I want it recovered if it does get ripped (it seems
like some amount of damage is always done by the time they find it). I was
part of Joe W's first kill clinic and for $20.00 you are going to get a lot
more bang for your buck (thanks Joe). The common theif is not going to be
able to start it and move on to the next jeep. The guy with the 50K
repo/theft rig is going to get it no matter what you do...

Well actually I usually rely on real world experience rather than
shops. Yes I know there are some great shops out there but talking
to people who have used it is the best advice and knowledge one can
usually seek out. Now if someone can give me some pro's and con's
on the shackle reversal it would be appreciated. I can do some
myself but what I don't I know someone who is more than qualified.
Unfortunately he is out of town right now and his experience is in
doing mods and wrench turning and not real world.

John,
I have a 5.9 L in my 97 Dodge so I can't speak from experience about the 4.7
But this is what Motortrend said about it:
"
Power from Chrysler's next-generation single-cam 4.7L 16-valve V-8 feels adequate, but not exceptional, at least in this heavy 4x4. It's rated 240 hp at 4800 rpm and 300 lb-ft at 3200 rpm. Coupled with the optional 45RFE multi-speed automatic, in which a computer chooses gearing to suit your driving style and needs, acceleration feels decent, but, at times, a bit sluggish. We'd guess the multi-speed in our preproduction Ram sometimes misunderstood our journalistic acceleration desires. Until the 5.7L Hemi V-8 replaces the old 5.9L Magnum V-8 as the top option, the 4.7 is our engine of choice. A 3.7L/215-hp V-6 is available only on the 2WD regular cab truck (we'd recommend it only if you're buying 25 trucks for a road-construction crew). A five-speed manual is available in all Ram iterations except for those equipped with the 5.9."
I don't usually care what motortrend thinks about vehicles but their show on the new Hemi was nice to see!!! Now if I could just afford one!!!!
Good luck!

The 5.9 puts out 245hp...sounds like the 4.7 puts out slightly more. Not sure about the torque comparison. I had the 5.9 and it towed just fine (6500lbs or so), but the new Hemi (5.7) is really amazing. Puts out a full 100hp more than the 5.9. And puts out more torque to boot (at a higher rpm). If you haven't yet bought the 2003, they are now offering it w/ the Hemi as an option. Well worth it. I loves me Hemi.

John,
I have a 5.9 L in my 97 Dodge so I can't speak from experience about the 4.7
But this is what Motortrend said about it:
Good luck!
Shawn

I am was wondering if anyone here has any expeirence or knows of someone, towing with a newer Dodge 1500 4.7 liter motor. (Yes, I know it is a small motor, but have to work on a tight budget, looking at my options and doing homework) Im looking to tow up to 6000 lbs on occasion and was wondering how it does and looking for real world input...
Thank You Much

Jack and I are going out Saturday morning to check the waterfall at the top of Bad Medicine........ anyone interested in joining us is more than welcome. Meeting at the Texaco at 8:00 a.m.
We also need to get some GPS readings on several of the trail heads out there..................... The Enterprise Team wants to have everything done by Feb 5 MGCP meeting so I need ALL GPS coordinances of trails we all use in this area........... ASAP
Also....... REMINDER to ALL............. get GPS readings for the Table Mesa and White Tanks area in to me or the Phoenix Field Office NOW......... hopefully we won't let this issue drop or "put on someone else to do it". Even if they receive duplicate readings thats ok............... more is good. Nothing is bad.
THANKS all.......... Sandee

Let me throw a wrench into everyone’s thinking. That is the area with the minor. Is it not possible that he did the blasting because he didn’t want people coming through his mine area? Before somebody goes off blaming the BLM that should be looked at and figured out…..
That’s my two cents…..

OK, I can't stand it, I'm gonna yap off now.
My jeep came with LOJACK, "free" from the dealer. They don't tell you where
it is, (it's a secret!) you don't know if it's really there, and they charge
you too much for it.
On the other hand, I found mine really does exist, when I was pulled over in
Colorado after wheelin', and I had crunched it with a rock that was kicked
up under the frame rail setting it went off.
Lojack refused to replace it, (I had ABUSED it)
I installed my own kill switch. Rigged to a 12 gauge shell under the
drivers seat. (just kidding ;0)
It is similar to the shoot or not discussion going on elsewhere, be aware of
where you are taking/leaving your jeep, Take precautions. be prepared to
lose it.
BTW, my jeep is not worth my life or my family. Or even the life of some
jerk who is stealing it.
I'll just get another jeep. (Now what mods shall I start with this
time..!!!!!)

Shackle reversal is
moving the front spring shackle from the front of the spring to the rear on
the front spring.

little or nothing about.. Just an Idea, don't get all worked up over it..
The knowledge you seek requires more than just words on a computer screen.
You need some real world schoolin'!
I know it's tough being new to the sport, but the best advice I can give is
seek the advice of those who get PAID to give it!

Hey Dan, do you still have that bumber? I've been looking for one
to put my spare on. What are the details on it anyway, do you have
a picture? Thanks Dan!

Subject: RE: Re: Dont' get your jeep jacked get a LOjack

Take a look at these pics I took today. She's a 74 CJ5, I'm
giving her away for $3,250 because I can't take her with me. If you're
interested call me or Email me for more info. Take her for a test drive,
she's got a sweet AMC 304 V8.

But as you can see, it was still as bad as it looks in the picture ..

BLM did not do this................... yes, it's possible the miner did this but this waterfall is well onto BLM lands......... not private. Jack and I will go out this weekend and take a look. Anyone interested in tagging along?

Let me throw a wrench into everyone’s thinking. That is the area with the minor. Is it not possible that he did the blasting because he didn’t want people coming through his mine area? Before somebody goes off blaming the BLM that should be looked at and figured out…..
That’s my two cents…..

This is what I got when I entered the coordinates at topozone
Here's a USGS topographic map from the TopoZone!
