A guy I work with actually heard his TJ start up.......he hobbled down the
stairs (broken ankle) and by the time he opened his front door, it was gone.
He then pulled out his Lojack card from his wallet, gave them the code, and
they activated his Lojack. 6 months later it was found as a stripped out
shell in Mexico. He also had an aftermarket alarm, but it didn't stop them
from taking it.

You would be suprised just how fast someone can back a truck up to your vehicle and drive off with it. FWIW, the really fast ones are the repo guys.

I use my brake lock and kill switch even when the vehicle is in the
garage. I have had a jeep stolen from a locke garage in Florida in
91. Thought it was safe with just the alarm. I would not spend the
money on Lojack however. 75$ Kill switch and 65$ auto brake lock does
the trick.

WOW!!!
Heck... for $15 I can install a kill switch which will absolutely STOP
them from starting the vehicle unless they find where you hide the
switch.
Why pay so much money for something which works as well as a $15 switch

I wouldn't recommend that anybody purchase lojack... stick with a well

You could go with a 2" budget boost (spacers on top of the springs) longer shocks, and swaybar disconnects and run 30x9.50x15's. That is how I started.........the next thing you know, more lift, more upgrades, and before you know it your sitting on 33x12.50x15's with 5.5" of lift no rear swaybar, adjustable control arms, etc., etc., it never ends. Hi!
My tire treads are getting a bit thin and I'll soon be looking for new rubber. Since the shocks are getting a bit flabby as well, I figure I might do a mild lift kit at the same time.
Anyone here in the brain trust have an opinion on what makes for the best tire/susupension combo for a ZJ already equipped with the UpCountry package? If 90% of my driving is on the street/highway, would I be best served by going no larger than a 30X9.5 and sticking with the stock suspension?
If a lift is a good option, any opinions on OME vs. Rancho vs. Skyjacker vs. ProComp kits?
Anyone out there with a mildly-modified ZJ and wisdom to share?
Thanks!
Bill

Sure, a thief just might take it to a metal building to strip it, and

One thing is for certain....you ARE guaranteed that flipping that switch
will do nothing to get your rig back once when it is towed/hauled away.
You can't say that about lo-jack, regardless of badly you want to (and

$850 + $250 lifetime monitor?
WOW!!!
Heck... for $15 I can install a kill switch which will absolutely STOP
them from starting the vehicle unless they find where you hide the
switch.
Why pay so much money for something which works as well as a $15 switch
and some wire?
I wouldn't recommend that anybody purchase lojack... stick with a well
hidden kill switch and spend the extra money on some cool upgrades for
your Jeep.
Kind Regards,
Joe West

They now have a new release costs $100.00 more but you have a remote and
if they break in and start it without key it alerts you they also want 5
contact numbers to alert you and by your key ring beeper and phone call
yes i makes it faster to you to check it out and call police and they
also have a new hidden feature kill switch where for instance you have
to turn your right blinker on or it will not start or some other
routine. So this is the next modle the have with what I metioned above
cost for new unit 850.00 plus lifetime monitor for 250.00

I have seen a report on repo guys that don't have to get out of their
truck. They just back up grab the tires and pull away. 30 seconds and
it's gone, see ya, bye bye.
Be a piece of cake for a Jeep with a locking steering wheel and front

Sandee,
At the BLM meeting in Payson, I questioned Chris as to the type of data format for the GPS information. He did not know.
Has he conveyed anything to you on this?
Are starting coordinates (just a simple waypoint) good enough? Starting and ending? I have actual tracks of the trails I have run (sorry, Im on way close to running them all), but delivering them to someone who only speaks French when they are written in Hungarian does no one any good.
Worse yet&.some of the lesser trails&.not the harder rock crawling trails, often times meander through and area and are crisscrossed by many other intersecting trails (such as many west of Lake Pleasant). A starting and ending GPS coordinate for those would be like peeing in the lake and then wondering why you didnt see the level rise.
I just dont want folks to think we are covered and then find that our data was unusable and therefore, no trails in that area are recognized (this would be something the TFO might try?).
Let me know! I can appreciate the Enterprise Team wanting help, but if we knew more, I think our efforts would be more valued.

That's true, but your talking repo not thiefs. I'd be willing to bet if you
check most thiefs work on the 2 guys method. That is, 2, or more, guys pull
up in a car, 1 jumps out, pops yours and they both drive off. It's quieter

75$ Kill switch and 65$ auto brake lock does
the trick.

I almost wrote that a kill switch won't work in the case of a flat bed
trailer... but then I decided that a lojack won't work in that case
either...
A thief sophisticated enough to wait for you to go inside somewhere and
load you Jeep on a flatbed trailer is sophisticated enough to dismantle
a vehicle in a metal sided building or shed so that they have an
effective shield against a transmitting lojack.
It's really simple... a sophisticated thief will get your vehicle no
matter what you do to protect it... and a less sophisticated thief will
be foiled by a kill switch just as easily as by a lojack.
So... again I conclude; save the extra money for some good
modifications.

Your switch isn't going to do anything if they put it up on a flat bed
or tow it off. What's to stop a tow truck from backing up to your Jeep
lifting the rear wheels and towing it off? A $15 dollar switch... Yeah
right.

WOW!!!
Heck... for $15 I can install a kill switch which will absolutely STOP
them from starting the vehicle unless they find where you hide the
switch.
Why pay so much money for something which works as well as a $15 switch
and some wire?
I wouldn't recommend that anybody purchase lojack... stick with a well
hidden kill switch and spend the extra money on some cool upgrades for
your Jeep.

Thanks!
Bill

Joe,
Lets meet for dinner sometime at that restaurant with the dimly lit
parking lot. Be sure to bring your Jeep, LOL.
I plan to slide mine 6" forward from stock. That will stretch my
wheelbase out to 100.5" total.

Joe....too much assumption (or is it circumstantial evidence?) on your
part and no good data to defend them.
Sure, a thief just might take it to a metal building to strip it, and
then again, he might take it to his buddy's back yard or garage too.
One thing is for certain....you ARE guaranteed that flipping that switch
will do nothing to get your rig back once when it is towed/hauled away.
You can't say that about lo-jack, regardless of badly you want to (and
you obviously do). :)

A thief sophisticated enough to wait for you to go inside somewhere and
load
you Jeep on a flatbed trailer is sophisticated enough to dismantle a
vehicle
in a metal sided building or shed so that they have an effective shield
against a transmitting lojack.
It's really simple... a sophisticated thief will get your vehicle no
matter
what you do to protect it... and a less sophisticated thief will be
foiled
by a kill switch just as easily as by a lojack.
So... again I conclude; save the extra money for some good
modifications.

Your switch isn't going to do anything if they put it up on a flat bed

lifting the rear wheels and towing it off? A $15 dollar switch... Yeah
right.

$850 + $250 lifetime monitor?
WOW!!!
Heck... for $15 I can install a kill switch which will absolutely STOP
them from starting the vehicle unless they find where you hide the
switch.
Why pay so much money for something which works as well as a $15 switch
and some wire?
I wouldn't recommend that anybody purchase lojack... stick with a well
hidden kill switch and spend the extra money on some cool upgrades for
your Jeep.

contact numbers to alert you and by your key ring beeper and phone call
yes i makes it faster to you to check it out and call police and they
also have a new hidden feature kill switch where for instance you have
to turn your right blinker on or it will not start or some other

Sandee,
At the BLM meeting in Payson, I questioned Chris as to the type of data format for the GPS information.

It's quieter
and less conspicuous. Atleast that's my thinking.

Why? You park your Jeep in the garage. You gona walk into a store with a
flash light and a firearm handy while your Jeep waits for you in the
parking lot? LOL :)
