WOW!!!
Heck... for $15 I can install a kill switch which will absolutely STOP them
from starting the vehicle unless they find where you hide the switch.
Why pay so much money for something which works as well as a $15 switch and
some wire?
I wouldn't recommend that anybody purchase lojack... stick with a well
hidden kill switch and spend the extra money on some cool upgrades for your
Jeep.

They now have a new release costs $100.00 more but you have a remote and if
they break in and start it without key it alerts you they also want 5
contact numbers to alert you and by your key ring beeper and phone call yes
i makes it faster to you to check it out and call police and they also have
a new hidden feature kill switch where for instance you have to turn your
right blinker on or it will not start or some other routine. So this is the
next modle the have with what I metioned above cost for new unit 850.00 plus

My brother got Lojack on his 01 Tacoma. It was only $600 at the time, and
the coverage in CA is much better then here. Since he lives in a crappy
neighborhood full of scum, and basically can't have a real gun, and is only
25 minutes from the border, it seemed like a good investment. He put $5k
down in cash, which he wouldn't be likely to get back from insurance. His
is just a call in deal though, no monitoring fees, etc.

Your switch isn't going to do anything if they put it up on a flat bed
or tow it off. What's to stop a tow truck from backing up to your Jeep
lifting the rear wheels and towing it off? A $15 dollar switch... Yeah
right.

I thought that LoJack was a Soap Opera character... Anyway,
aren't they only a "dealer installed" item? Can you go to your
favorite car audio place and buy them now? I would never choose
LoJack for any vehicle that I own because of the rural areas that I
have almost always lived in. Except for living in Phoenix, the
places where I have called home have always been a long ways from the
nearest police department. I did have my Dodge Ram stolen last year-
almost a year to the day- and I got it back within a week, without
LoJack. Without the bottle jack, too, and the wheels, and and and...

Very well put Joe. Specially about learning NOT to use it. The more you
don't use it, the more your out of harms way and especially having to make
the ever so hard decission (shoot or not). Personally I would rather not
have to make that decision and therefore would just call the cops and take
descriptions. All this "I would just shoot" and the other answers I feel is
just talk. I can say all day that I would have no problem just shooting
first, but when it comes down to it I wouldn't want to have that feeling
that I killed someone when it could have been adverted. I feel my life and
familys lives are worth more than my jeep any day. And no I'm not a coward,
I spent 9 yrs in the army and with the army rangers for two years. I spent
most of my time there learning to kill. Luckily I never had to make that
decision. My .05

I am certainly NOT the gun-law expert...
Here is the local gun-law expert:
Tom LaFrance
Tom teaches a Concealed Carry class here in Arizona so he knows the laws
better than most.
The right answer to your question is that you should avoid using your gun
any chance you have. There are specific occasions when you can use your gun
(as outlined by the attached ARS that some one posted) but for the most
part, you should do everything in your power not to have to use it. Stay
out of situations where you might need a gun... be constantly alert so that
you can avoid circumstances where you might need a weapon AND, don't draw
your weapon unless you have reason to believe that you will need it AND be
prepared to use it if you pull it.
I'm sure Tom will elaborate more; but I learned how NOT to use a weapon in
my CCW class...

Yeah Joe, please do advise. My mistake. Perhaps I shouldn't have said
"against the law" as much as it's usually not a good idea since you then
need to convince a court of law that your use of deadly force was
justifiable. Sometimes the guilty go free and the innocent don't and despite
the letter of the law, it's up to interpretation of the law as well as what
happened at the scene. I'm just not sure shooting some kid who is stealing
your stereo would be seen as a justifiable action by a judge or jury.
I guess we are getting into AZVGC territory here but I think it's not a bad
idea for the AZVJC group to discuss whether or not you can shoot somebody
who is stealing stuff from your Jeep. Although, overall the decision anyone
reading this thread makes on this issue should be based on law and not from
our conversations on this thread.
Should we move this to AZVGC?

So how much monitoring does $250 get you? Is that paid directly
to the PD who recovers it? Aren't they already paid to take a bite
outta crime? And the word "monitor", besides being a cool kind of
lizard, is a word that makes me think of Big Brother. So now someone
knows where you hang out, for how long, and at what times of the day
or night. They probably even know if you prefer Charmin over Quilted
Northern. I think it's time to start defending what is ours. Just
do it wisely.

I almost wrote that a kill switch won't work in the case of a flat bed
trailer... but then I decided that a lojack won't work in that case
either...
A thief sophisticated enough to wait for you to go inside somewhere and load
you Jeep on a flatbed trailer is sophisticated enough to dismantle a vehicle
in a metal sided building or shed so that they have an effective shield
against a transmitting lojack.
It's really simple... a sophisticated thief will get your vehicle no matter
what you do to protect it... and a less sophisticated thief will be foiled
by a kill switch just as easily as by a lojack.
So... again I conclude; save the extra money for some good modifications.

Your switch isn't going to do anything if they put it up on a flat bed
or tow it off. What's to stop a tow truck from backing up to your Jeep
lifting the rear wheels and towing it off? A $15 dollar switch... Yeah
right.

$850 + $250 lifetime monitor?
WOW!!!
Heck... for $15 I can install a kill switch which will absolutely STOP
them from starting the vehicle unless they find where you hide the
switch.
Why pay so much money for something which works as well as a $15 switch
and some wire?
I wouldn't recommend that anybody purchase lojack... stick with a well
hidden kill switch and spend the extra money on some cool upgrades for
your Jeep.

They now have a new release costs $100.00 more but you have a remote and
if they break in and start it without key it alerts you they also want 5
contact numbers to alert you and by your key ring beeper and phone call
yes i makes it faster to you to check it out and call police and they
also have a new hidden feature kill switch where for instance you have
to turn your right blinker on or it will not start or some other
routine. So this is the next modle the have with what I metioned above
cost for new unit 850.00 plus lifetime monitor for 250.00

Maybe I'm wrong but I can't see the "average" thief using a tow truck. It
just takes too long. Mostly if they can't pop it and be gone they leave it
alone. Some might go to the trouble of pushing it down the street before
they start it but that's about it. I'd vote for the kill switch, and maybe a
fuel redirect/shutoff switch, and save the money. FWIW the local Jeep dealer
hear qouted me $595 up installed for the Lojack. That included lifetime
monitoring.

WOW!!!
Heck... for $15 I can install a kill switch which will absolutely STOP them
from starting the vehicle unless they find where you hide the switch.

BLM did not do this................... yes, it's possible the miner did this but this waterfall is well onto BLM lands......... not private. Jack and I will go out this weekend and take a look. Anyone interested in tagging along?

Let me throw a wrench into everyone’s thinking. That is the area with the minor. Is it not possible that he did the blasting because he didn’t want people coming through his mine area? Before somebody goes off blaming the BLM that should be looked at and figured out…..
That’s my two cents…..

Don’t know couldn’t tell you. I don’t know the trails at FJ to have any clue. If I new my way around and had lockers I would go check it out tomorrow.

This is what I got when I entered the coordinates at topozone
Here's a USGS topographic map from the TopoZone!

What would the axle tag say to indicate 4.10's I want 4.56's or
4.88's in my axle. This axle was out of a FS van late 70's I think.
I can check it if you tell me the ratio code on the tag.

That included lifetime
monitoring.
