Price: $170 for everything; $140 for tires only; $60 for wheels only
Contact: Reed: 623-210-3484 or rtnet@cox.net
These wheels &; tires are take-offs from my 2002 Jeep Wrangler X. They only have 1,500 miles on them, because I upgraded to alloy wheels with 31" BFG's. The tires are still mounted on the wheels, but I will separate them.
The tires are P215/75/15 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S. They have black lettering only (no OWL). They're good all-season road tires. Regular retail price is $75 each.
The wheels are 15x7 gray-painted steel wheels. Not much to look at, but they are still in 'new' condition.
Please call or email with any questions. Thanks!

We're getting ready for a trip the first weekend in March to the 41st annual Tierra del Sol Desert Safari near Truckhaven Hills, California (south of Palm Springs). I'm looking to upgrade our accomodations from a tent to something that's off the ground. Does anyone on the group have a popup tent trailer they'd be willing to rent me that I could pull behind my Jeep? We're non-smokers and would park it on smooth ground near base camp. I just need something that would fit me, my wife and our 6 year old son from Friday February 28 through Sunday March 2 (3 days) and we'd be sure to return it clean. I'm working on an idea of making a modular tent insert for my M416 trailer but realistically will not have enough time to finish it for the trip. Oh and the mileage would be about 700 miles round trip. Just a reminder, we're interested in riding out with anyone else on the group that wants to come along. Hi Mike,
I suspect that the problems Scott and I had were related to some VERY hard use under conditions which the transmission was not designed to take and in addition, the use of an incorrect lubricating fluid. I think that Scotts transmission died with fewer miles on it& but he consistently wheels more frequently than I do so Im not surprised. This being said, the bottom line is that in 99%+ of the cases, the AX-15 is more than strong enough to do the job and CERTAINLY is stronger than the Peugeot! .
Kind Regards,

Because of this, it'd be probably unwise to risk your money on a rear tire

I don't have anything to take pics of yet, but would appreciate yours, Russel.
Reid, are you going SUA in your YJ? You mentioned using the stock spring perches...did you have to grind them off and re-weld?
Russ, why did you go with the RE brackets vs. the MORE kit specifically for 8.8's? maybe it wasn't available when you did yours, or are the RE brackets just a lot cheaper?
I don't know what is meant by the "o-ring in the proportioning valve", Reid. Getting the most out of the new discs is one of my bigger concerns with this swap. Was planning to buy an adjustable proportioning valve so I can tune the performance in. Wilwood makes one of these valves...I believe they run around $30 - $40 at speedshops (ie. Lopers).
I'll need to find some good pricing on gears (4.10's) and a Detroit, then get it to a shop for that part of the install. I'm hoping to have this done by Valentines Day. Not sure if a mass wrenching party would work too good. If I'm not busting it on mine, I'd like to give Reid a hand so I can learn from that install.

Tom and Russell,
Can you email some pics to me also? My 8.8 is getting stuffed full of 4.56
gears and an ARB right now. If the pinion angle is correct, I'm going to
use the stock spring perches. I've heard of many people doing this without
getting any vibrations. Can you use the ABS sensor hole on the top of the
pumpkin for an axle vent? The stock one seems to be tilting back quite a
bit. Has anyone tried removing the O-ring from the 'proportioning valve'?
to get more pressure to the rear disks?
Are there any other people doing this swap soon? We could have a mass axle
install wrenching party... just like Joe West's hood lock install. I plan
on installing mine in a couple of weeks.
Something I learned... you can use spare axles from earlier drum brake 31
spline Exploder 8.8s.

Good comments, Russ. Except I think the 12-pt 1/2" socket for

hubs. Folks with manual hubs will need the appropriate axle nut
socket plus the appropriate size socket/wrench for the spindle nuts.

This being said, the bottom line is that in 99%+ of the cases, the AX-15 is more than strong enough to do the job and CERTAINLY is stronger than the Peugeot! .
Kind Regards,
Joe

The vast and overwhelming experiences of nearly everyone that ever had the
misfortune of buying a Steel Horse product. Yeah...I'd say "Steel Horse sux"
is a pretty universal sentiment.
Because of this, it'd be probably unwise to risk your money on a rear tire
carrier made by them, esp. when there are ones out there with a positive
track record.

Ripping the folks.
Good comments, Russ. Except I think the 12-pt 1/2" socket for
removing hubs thang only applies to newer Dana 30's without manual
hubs. Folks with manual hubs will need the appropriate axle nut
socket plus the appropriate size socket/wrench for the spindle nuts.
And don't forget about the brake caliper bolts.

John,
My MTR's measure about 36" when the weight of the Jeep is on them at 24 PSI. Off the Jeep aired up they measure 37". They squat down about 1" when I air them down to 8 PSI.

Hi all,
I am beginning to shop the 37's for my new jeep build up.
Would you guys running 37's please measure the actual height of your tires? I am trying to figure out which brands are what height and so on.
Thank you,
John
