Jay, I went with the Warn axles, when I bought them they had a lifetime guarantee and converted my axles to full floaters which puts a lot less stress on the shafts.........the bonus is that I have locking hubs front and rear which is great for towing or to drive out in front wheel drive if something happens on the trail and I have the stronger 5x5 1/2 bolt pattern like on CJ's

Jay, why would you want to spend the kind of money for an ARB snorkel ? Sure, they look kinda cool but do they really afford you any real benefit ? Think about it, if you relocate your air filter above your valve cover you have it high enough to keep it out of water, if you get into water to the point that your plugs or distributor are under, you arent going to run anymore anyway.........snorkel is great on a Hummer where the diesel motor can run under water and come to think of it, Hummers with a snorkel for the air, also have one for the exhaust...........save your money and relocate your air filter..........my opinion.

Why even put it that high. You would have to be using scuba yourself
to really put it to work. Just relocat the filter inside the engine

Could be a number of things. cable not hooked up, cable not adjusted right, brakes not adjusted right. Look under jeep to see if it is hooked up, if it is pull on inner cable, should have about 1/2-1 inch play. If more than that check brake adj. first, then try adj. E-brake cable.

Subject: Quick CJ V8 Question
I am getting ready to drop the block, tranny and xfer case in the CJ
(tomorrow). There are two positions of wholes in the '84 frame for the motor
mounts to bolt up to the frame. For the V8 do I bolt them up to the front
set or the back set? I am guessing the front set for 4's & 8's and the rear
for 6's, but I need to make sure the fan won't hit the radiator without
putting the front clip back on. On top of that, I have made a custom
tranny/xfer case skid plate that I will need to modify (place the mount
position) once I see where everything fits, so I don't want to screw that
up.
If nothing else maybe I could get some measurements from the front of the
fan to the motor mounts for a 6 and then for an 8, and position the frame
mounting spots accordingly. This won't tell me if the tranny will be in the
correct spot, through the tub, though. Any help would be appreciated.

www.raingler.com, but I just noticed it is not available.
I run a 37 tooth gear with 4.56 and 35" tires. It is within 1 MPH of

As for the e-brake....are the cables attached at the end of the axle?

John,
Joe is quite correct. I run a small external speaker, from Radio Shack, and have it zip tied to the roll bar, just over my shoulder. They also make amplified speakers that run from 12V. These are great if you run with no top, highway speeds, and things such as that where high noise becomes a factor (dont confuse Joes CB singing as noise&.that is interference). LOL

John,
Splicing into the factory speakers would cause the amplifiers in the CB to drive against the amplifiers in your factory stereo; resulting in untimely demise of whichever amplifier couldnt take the heat.
The best thing for you to do is pick up a CB speaker from Radio Shack or your favorite CB shop and plug it right into the CB speaker Jack& you really dont need stereo quadraphonic CB noise anyway (unless of course you do a run with me and I start singing over the CB& then youll wish you had stereo CB for sure ).
If you are worried about where to mount the speaker& ask around; there are plenty of novel ideas in the group. I went for the simple approach and mounted mine to the top of the dash on the trim stick which covers the defroster vents.
Kind Regards,

Hi all,
I have a Cobra 75 WX in my TJ now and I like it fine, the only problem is the volume level. With the speaker in the microphone the volume is not the best
.
My question is, how do I wire from the external speaker jack in the control module to the factory speakers in the jeep sound bar?
Can I just bug into the speaker wires and expect it to work properly? Do I need some kind of isolator to prevent the radio sound from drowning out the CB?
Sorry I don't know the technical names for some of this.
If I plug an external speaker into the jack. it would work. What is different about tying into the factory speakers?
TIA

Yup, there actually is some benefit of a snorkle in the desert. When
driving around on dusty roads and trails, the dust being kicked up just
swirls around in your engine compartment. That is the air your poor
Jeep has to breath. Result: the air filter gets clogged up pretty easy.
Now, install a snorkle and you are breathing from the cleaner air
outside the Jeep even when following other Jeeps. Since installing my
snorkle, I have not had to clean my filter as much.
Just my $.02

I'll take a stab at this. I assume you mean that you can engage the
e-brake my the foot pedal or handle between the seat (you didn't
specify vehicle type) but it doesn't keep the Jeep stopped. If that is
the case, then the little star adjuster in the drum is probably not
adjusted correctly. If it has been like this only since you got it back
from 4 Wheelers, then they probably loosened it to get your brake drums
off to pull the axles during the diff install. Then, they probably
forgot to readjust it after putting everything back together.
