Joey
It sounds like you are in three wheel drive and the transfer case is not
coming out of 4 wheel drive. If you disconnect your front drive shaft and
your problems goes away then you are not coming out of 4 wheel drive. Or
jack your front and rear wheels off the ground and put it in 2 wheel drive
and see if a front wheel or front drive shaft turns. The transfer case has
a little mode shift springs that takes the transfer case out of 4 wheel
drive and was left out of my transfer case when it was rebuilt before I
bought it. The only way I found the problem was after I installed a front
locker.

Subject: CB speaker options

Hi all,

I have a Cobra 75 WX in my TJ now and I like it fine, the only problem is the volume level. With the speaker in the microphone the volume is not the best
.
My question is, how do I wire from the external speaker jack in the control module to the factory speakers in the jeep sound bar?
Can I just bug into the speaker wires and expect it to work properly? Do I need some kind of isolator to prevent the radio sound from drowning out the CB?
Sorry I don't know the technical names for some of this.
If I plug an external speaker into the jack. it would work. What is different about tying into the factory speakers?

TIA

John

Yup, I dont think there is an upgrade for that and be able to keep
the disconnect. I never had a problem with that though.

Donald,

As I said below "Before putting in the locker in, when traveling on road
the drive shaft would not spin."

If I jack the front up, both tires off the ground, in 2wd I can turn the
wheels and the drive shaft spins. In 4wd, which engages the front drive
shaft, I can not turn the wheels.

I really think that my Jeep with the lockers is working like they
should.

PS BTW do you have a sister... Sandy? Just curious.

4Wheelers completed my D44 axle swap with ARB f&R today. Jeep runs
great and is a different animal with 4.56 gears. I can't wait to
get out on the trail and try wheelin' with lockers. Special thanks
to Dave and Barry for putting up with me and my questions.

I did just notice a problem with my emergency brake. It doesn't
work. Would someone give me an idea how to fix this? Also the
speedo is off by about 15mph. Does anyone have a website for speedo
gears? I changed mine when I got 33" tires and know I can't find
the site I used to pick the right gear ratio.

John,

Splicing into the factory speakers would cause the amplifiers in the CB to drive against the amplifiers in your factory stereo; resulting in untimely demise of whichever amplifier couldnt take the heat.

The best thing for you to do is pick up a CB speaker from Radio Shack or your favorite CB shop and plug it right into the CB speaker Jack& you really dont need stereo quadraphonic CB noise anyway (unless of course you do a run with me and I start singing over the CB& then youll wish you had stereo CB for sure ).

If you are worried about where to mount the speaker& ask around; there are plenty of novel ideas in the group. I went for the simple approach and mounted mine to the top of the dash on the trim stick which covers the defroster vents.

Kind Regards,

Joe West

TIA

John

Jon

Sorry to here about your Tera 60 problems. There were some problems in the early housings but Tera has fix them.
I custom build Tera 60's & 50's and yet to have one fail. I have built and installed 10 Tera 60's and 2 Tera 50's in competition buggies to every day drivers.
You do need to make sure the pinion angle is not to steep. You need to make sure there is not a oil slinger on the pinion. There is a special oil slinger /baffle that is now used. Also the preload on the upper pinion bearing can not be set to tight. I set them up a little less than spec. on a standard Dana 60.
I beat the heck out of mine and it is great. If you have any questions give me a call, I would be happy to answer them.

P.S The new CRD Tera 60's are even better

Subject: Re: Four Wheelers

Brad:

WELL SAID!

Ok, lets be fair.

There are a number of great companies and people in the valley doing
business, not just 4Wheelers. No company is perfect.

4Wheelers is an excellent company; they have been in business forever
and have a lot of loyal customers, including myself. Customers do not
become loyal without good reason. Several people in the group have come
to the defense of 4Wheelers, because they are loyal and have a good
history with the company. However, with that said, they are still a
business with employees. The goal of the company (owners/management) is
to provide service and products, provide good customer service and make
a profit. This is how a business, stays in business.

I missed the thread where you explained what happened, other than you
were displeased with the service you received. Every company that
exists has good and bad or should I say not so good employees. Most of
the club knows Barry, who is on the Walks on water level and others
behind the counter who are great as well. If you have had service done,
then you know Dave, who is right there with Barry. Normally, we suggest
people talk to the people we know, because they go the extra mile to
make sure club members are well taken care of. They are fellow
wheelers, understand what we do and most importantly, why we do it.
They will make sure you get outstanding customer service and really
important, get the club discount.

Now, I don't know everybody in the company, but I do know many and most
seem very knowledgeable and really want to help. I have been at
4Wheelers many many times when there are soooooo many people waiting for
help, the staff can barley see straight. The phones are ringing off the
hook, the staff is talking to 3 people at the same time, and two on the
other side of the counter. Another 6 are on hold waiting for Barry!
This is usually the norm during lunch and on weekends. I
don't know if you were in during this time, but if so, I could see how
things could be a little tense. If it was during a slow time, there may
not be as much defense.

No one is perfect, including 4Wheelers, but they have made many of us
very very happy. Personally, they have always treated me very well. It
is conceivable that someone could offer less than good/excellent
customer service, but I truly believe, if the right people knew, they
would take care of it.

You mention "They were contacted, never heard the outcome." Does that
mean, the problem actually happened to someone else or someone else made
the call. Have you personally been in contact with Barry or Brian?
Now, I have had poor service at a couple of shops in the area, and have
not gone back to talk to the owners or others, I just didn't go back. I
also posted the poor service, but it was with a well know Poor Service
Provider, we all disliked. I'm not knocking your post, but in the case
of a company with a good reputation, in any field, I might consider
following up, to give them a chance to make it right.

Posting good or bad can have a huge impact on a business. However, I
would hate to see a company suffer from the poor business practice of a
single malcontent.

My humble opinion.

Brad
