My birthday is coming up and the wife says that she would like me to
spend $100-$150 on my jeep (all we can afford right now). I'm
looking for either a cool mod/upgrade or anything else. Not exactly
sure. Any ideas on what I could buy for that amount for a stock '97
TJ with 31"s? Anyone selling anything I could use for about that
amount? Any good places I could go to either stores or online? Any
input would be great. Thanks guys.

Sandee,
That is truly great news. Thanks for sharing what's going on with
the group. I, for one, (as well as many, many others) appreciate
it. Good luck on the 29th and if you need anything I'm sure there
are plenty of folks here willing to help out; just ask.
Take care,

The January 29 meeting just came up as a possibility yesterday within a

ended up with a conference call including Mike Taylor from the State BLM
Office. When we pushed the idea of the State office facilitating a "face to

from. This is not planned as a "numbers" meeting of RED shirts...........
we need to identify a few persons to represent all of us............... I
see this as more of an "ask question.......... see what answer we get" in

Jon,
There are many variables involved here. What axle are you running and what type of trails do you do? If you are going to run 35" tires you are going to need something strong - the Detroit would be the better choice because it replaces the carrier and is known to be bomb proof. Check with Powertrax or call a 4x4 shop (4 Wheelers) to find out the maximum tire size you can run. I have heard that the max was 33". As you probably know 35" tires on a D35 are not a good combination, especially locked. Good luck.

Hello all,
I'm finally back from my 2 week vacation/wedding. I am now a happily
married jeeper. Now I can focus on some wheelin'. I hope you all
had some great holidays spent with your friends and families. I hope
to see you all out on the trails soon...after I do some minor
adjustments/maintenance to my jeep. Again, I would like to offer my
very little expertise (a good grunt worker) to anyone working on
their jeeps. I would love the experience and I know you wrenchers
would love some company. Just email me and I'll let you know if I
can help out.
Take care all,

That is truly great news. Thanks for sharing what's going on with
the group. I, for one, (as well as many, many others) appreciate
it. Good luck on the 29th and if you need anything I'm sure there
are plenty of folks here willing to help out; just ask.
Take care,

The January 29 meeting just came up as a possibility yesterday within a
meeting Jim Florence and myself had with Cong. Shadeggs office. We actually
ended up with a conference call including Mike Taylor from the State BLM
Office. When we pushed the idea of the State office facilitating a "face to
face" meeting between the users and TFO this is where the 29th date came
from. This is not planned as a "numbers" meeting of RED shirts...........
we need to identify a few persons to represent all of us............... I
see this as more of an "ask question.......... see what answer we get" in
front of State Office. IMO we don't want to go into this meeting with an
attitude of trying to intimidate Shela to tick her off any more than she
already is........... what needs to be done, and what Mike Taylor would
like to see happen, is identify the issues that are maybe working themselves
out, those that need action, and/or actually set "goals" that need to be
reached and "how" we can reach them. I think the state office is finally
realizing TFO simply have their own agenda.... they are not consistant with
the rest of their partners.
I just spent 7 hours with the ENTIRE TFO office today!!! Golly gee, .....
THAT was FUN! Bill....... I needed that Tequila! We walked the entire A &
B Course for the CalRocs Competition in March......... the entire course I
heard nothing but *****ing about: I can 'smell' oil; what about that
'plant'; what about that rock or dirt spot; there are 'tire tracks
everywhere'; what if someone from the public 'wants to drive the course
during the competition' (the first one of you that try that one will face
me!!!).......... I'm serious, these guys fussed about every pebble out
there. How many tortoise' do we run over; that looks like potential Pygmy
Owl habitat; that ONE mesquite tree looks like it was run over........ yep,
what's your point. What if; What if; What if............... I did really
well guys.......... didn't SCREAM until on the way home!
I don't know what will happen in the NEPA Interdisplinary Team (sounds like
a government term doesn't it) meeting tomorrow in Tucson but at THIS time
Francisco actually supported US. He truly did stand up for us on a couple
of hot issues....... might be because he knows his backside is on the hot
seat, but he, in front of many witnesses outside TFO HEARD him. We had a
wonderful supporter from the RAC with us today................ Glen is very
highly respected and is a past employee of both BLM and the State Land Dept.
He was quite vocal for our cause which leads into something your letters to
Francisco re the "scoping" concerns should highlight................ "Give
the Woodpecker area to the OHV as a specialty area and get off the
continuing EA's and concerns." "Providing OHV areas is specified in the OHV
Strategy from National"......... Francisco actually supported this thought
although the rest of these guys almost had a stroke over it!
Re the meeting on the 29th.......... I would like to have a meeting with
those of you interested in attending this meeting and pound out some
questions we want addressed and get some grasp on "what you all want to ask
or hear". I'm thinking we probably don't want more than 4 (Jim, what do you
think?) OHV representatives going into this meeting. Those going must be
familiar with the past issues leading into today's issues. Jim and I will
be there.
BTW: Your response from Elaine was the same as Jim's response
received.............. yes, .... canned BUT Elaine is very OHV positive and
even more is "partnership" positive. She doesn't feel BLM can do anything
without the support, help, and backing of the recreation community or user
groups. This is a BIG step for us........... HANG in there, we'll make it

The January 29 meeting just came up as a possibility yesterday within a
meeting Jim Florence and myself had with Cong. Shadeggs office. We
actually
ended up with a conference call including Mike Taylor from the State BLM
Office. When we pushed the idea of the State office facilitating a
"face to
face" meeting between the users and TFO this is where the 29th date came
from. This is not planned as a "numbers" meeting of RED
shirts...........
we need to identify a few persons to represent all of us...............
I
see this as more of an "ask question.......... see what answer we get"
in
front of State Office. IMO we don't want to go into this meeting with
an
attitude of trying to intimidate Shela to tick her off any more than she
already is........... what needs to be done, and what Mike Taylor would
like to see happen, is identify the issues that are maybe working
themselves
out, those that need action, and/or actually set "goals" that need to
be
reached and "how" we can reach them. I think the state office is
finally
realizing TFO simply have their own agenda.... they are not consistant
with
the rest of their partners.
I just spent 7 hours with the ENTIRE TFO office today!!! Golly gee,
.....
THAT was FUN! Bill....... I needed that Tequila! We walked the entire
A &
B Course for the CalRocs Competition in March......... the entire
course I
heard nothing but *****ing about: I can 'smell' oil; what about that
'plant'; what about that rock or dirt spot; there are 'tire tracks
everywhere'; what if someone from the public 'wants to drive the course
during the competition' (the first one of you that try that one will
face
me!!!).......... I'm serious, these guys fussed about every pebble out
there. How many tortoise' do we run over; that looks like potential
Pygmy
Owl habitat; that ONE mesquite tree looks like it was run over........
yep,
what's your point. What if; What if; What if............... I did
really
well guys.......... didn't SCREAM until on the way home!
I don't know what will happen in the NEPA Interdisplinary Team (sounds
like
a government term doesn't it) meeting tomorrow in Tucson but at THIS
time
Francisco actually supported US. He truly did stand up for us on a
couple
of hot issues....... might be because he knows his backside is on the
hot
seat, but he, in front of many witnesses outside TFO HEARD him. We had

Jon,
There are many variables involved here. Good luck.

Congratulations! Now that the fun is out of the way you can start
getting used to being miserable like the rest of us married Jeepers. ;)

Subject: [az_vjc] I'm back!!!
Hello all,
I'm finally back from my 2 week vacation/wedding.
Take care all,
~Wade

maybe a cool center overhead console for $220... a little more than what you
planned... OR what EVERY jeeper needs on the trail... A new CB &
antenna... Check out Bronco One.... well educated, great services, prices,
and they also have bumpers, center consoles and GPS stuff... he REALLY got
a lot of new stuff sense his last shop... I was impressed! Happy birthday
never-the-less.
