Subject: [FS] Hardtop and Doors from 1984 CJ7

Price: $550.00 O.B.O

Contact: Tim 480-227-0101

Hardtop and doors from 1984 CJ7. Hardtop removed from a fairly rusty jeep hailing from the northwest. Top is in good shape, but has rusted all around the latch for the rear window and will need to be replaced if you want to lock the hatch. Both doors have very minor surface rust and one has broken wing window glass.

Okay we are waaaaaayyyy off my subject.... I was asking if anyone
was selling a compressor before I buy one at the store this weekend.
I know what I am going to buy, I didn't need advice from everyone as
to which one to get. We all got kinda side tracked by all the posts
on the thread that weren't on topic... sorry if I sound like a prick
or something but it's a little annoying when I ask if anyone is
selling something, and I get 20 people telling me what to buy, half
of them assuming I am going to buy the "WRONG" compressor. Anyway
I'll assume nobody has one for sale and I'll just start pricing the
one I origionally wanted! -Rob

This is just the top it's self. The top was only used 3 times before the jeep became a trailer queen. All the windows zip out, this would make a great replacement if your top is bad. I have some of the hardware but not the doors.

I don't think so, in an earlier post it was stated you had to come
out the same way you came it. Lower Tax Collector(you can bail out
at the mid point before starting upper), where firebird and tax
colletor meet you can bail out and run up along the ridge above the
trails.

I just can't picture where this trail is, but I really want to know.

OK OK here it is. If you have been out there you know there is a power
line that runs north and south (generally). If you know where Tax
collector is that is the main trail wash. Because Tax Collector turns
into Firebird then Firebird turns into Ruler, same wash. The power line
pretty much runs on top this wash. Now remember where you enter Tax
Collector? If you look SSW up a large hill you will see a power pole on
the peak. That is the direction you want to head for Intimidator because
the power line runs on the left side of this wash as you head south. Be
careful in this area as I have noticed a few wild cat exits created on
this trail.

Now you want to know where Scorpion is?? Ok but remember this is a NO
EXIT trail. You have to go out the way you came in, but I think there is
relief for the first waterfall. The trail that crosses Tax Collector and
Firebird takes you over a small hill and toward a "pass" to the back
side of the White Tanks. Well you go over that hill and about a 1/4 to
1/2 mile you cross a large wash, go north in the wash and boom your on
Scorpion.

I wonder if this is what some people call lower tax collector. After
leaving
appetizer and heading north on the dirt trail, there is a drop that the
dirt
road takes through the wash to continue onto firebird. If you turn left
into
the wash there, instead of going straight. And follow the wash you run
into
this trail (I have heard it called lower tax collector and lower
firebird).
The only reason I even mention it is because its about 1/2 mile south of
the
entrance to firebird. and the first obstacle is a v waterfall like what
was
said in the earlier posts.
It is basically the same wash that firebird is in and you can exit at
the
start of firebird. Is this the scorpion trail?

Subject: Re: Wheel Studs

I'm assuming rear drums here. If you have a Dana 44, simply pull the
wheel and drum, use a box wrench to take the 4 nuts of the studs
holding the wheel bearing retainer plate in position, and then slide
the axle out. Now you have easy access to the studs.

If you have a Dana 35, then you can certainly open the diff and
remove the c-clips and do what ever else is necessary to slide the
axles out. But I'd try replacing the studs with the axles in the
housing WITHOUT drilling holes in the backing plates.

My preferred way to replace wheel studs is to press them out/in. But
I know others have had success using a BFH. You could probably pound
the old studs out with a hammer and then press in new studs using one
of those Harbor Freight u-joint tools if there's enough room to get
it around the back side of the axle flange (might have to remove a
brake shoe.

I have one of the Harbor Freight u-joint tools and that's what I've
used to press wheel studs in/out of my axles. Works like a charm.
