title of thread courtesy of sedona rick...

while on the airpark run (martin canyon-smiley rock) i found that my rig did not like doing the slow crawl in 1st gear...when trying to slow crawl in first the rpms would hit 2500 quickly and it seemed as if my transmission was struggling and loosing power...it seemed as if my rig likes 2nd gear with the rpms 1500-2000 best....is this my inexperience or my diff ratio???

:driving: wheeling and learning....

Your TJ's 4.0L has most of it's torque at low rpms, it is not surprising it 'feels' like a loss of power at higher rpms in crawl ratio. Keep it in the lows, 1st gear is for going reaaaaal slow.

if i read your answer right...2nd gear and rpms 1500-2000 would be right for my rig at slow crawl and for a really slow crawl 1st gear at the same rpms....thanks....
