I think it is because most people that buy WJ's don't take them offroad and they are "grocery getters" vs. jeeps that are built more specifically for offroad (TJ's, JK's, etc). Check out Jeep Forum or Mallcrawlin websites. There are quite a few people on those sites that have moderate-heavily modified ZJ's and WJ's.

I have WJ and wheel it. It's a very capable offroad vehicle and we use it to tow our 4000lb., 22ft. travel trailer also. Like mentioned, it is also my wife's mall crawler, so that's why I bought the XJ I have so I don't have to listen to her scream about scratches and dents.

Yeah I am a WJ owner myself. Sadly the options for improving the offroad performance are slim pickings. I have the NV242 xfer case. You?

I just spotted one through lower Pyeatte Draw this past weekend!! She did and Excellent job and handled the trail nicely.. With a few parts swaps they make the perfect wheeler.. Great wheel base and all the luxuries of a street cruser!
