I need help, trying to ID this rear D44.
It has:
65" WMS
Drum brakes
drain plug on bottom
diff offset by 2"
731570 (I think) cast into webbing by pinion

Try by locating the BOM # (bill of material) on the long tube after the build date number and then cross reference the "Dana all makes, all models axle guide" at the bottom of this link, pick the product pulldown and use "light axle". Caution it is a large file, may take a minute or so to download.

No BOM - Its all been ground smooth
more info:
axle tube OD 2.75"
30 spline axles
4.10 gears

sure it's a 44? couple other axles had same diff cover
early FS Jseries?

i'm not sure of anything. would an FJ be 65' wide?
