Looking for appropriate roll bar padding for the cage - 1.75 tubes. I have looked at some of the products on the internet and they range from pipe insulation to SCI rated padding (or better). Since I don't wear a helmet but want to be as safe as possible, what is the recommendation on what and where to get it?

Thanks in advance.

I cannot afford the good stuff so I went with old school...

I got pipe insulation/foam from Home Depot, trimmed it accordingly and then wrapped it with black electrical tape. It was cheap. and if I drag a section of it along a wall I can cut it out cleanly and replace it.

I am a tall guy with a big ol' head so I have smacked it a couple times. When I get time I will probably redo the crossbars around the driver/passengers so they are double thickness.

I know it is old-school/red-neck but it works and was cheap. If you'd like I can post pics later tonight....

Scott, if you get over near the 7th street and Indian School area stop at Lopers.
He has lots of real roll bar padding [Moroso] for a reasonable price. If you ever need
to test it out , you will be glad you have the good stuff! Bob

I bought the SFI stuff. Not cheap, but REALLY good protection. Pipe insulation is not roll bar padding. It is almost worthless in an accident, and I know that by watching a friend have to push his wife around in a wheel chair for the last 15 years after an accident in a CJ-7.

I am leaning towards the "good stuff". I have seen Wayne's padding and it is quite good. I want to find padding that holds up well but still provides good protection for the "unhelmeted":D Some of that padding is almost as hard as the rollbar!

Lopers in Mesa charges about $6 (after taxes) for a 3' piece. The size I got was offset 1-5/8" hole, 7/16" off from center. I didn't see any other sizes.
