Going to order 4 new shoes for the ole Cowboy as his current MTRs are tired. I have 35 MTRs on my trailer and I use a 37 for a spare for trailer and Jeep.
I am considering BFG kM2s...Any thoughts, pro's, con's???
Got 3 37x17 MTRs that will come off this week for certain. They have seen plenty of trail time but still got some miles and they balance. They will make a good spare. I will take a 5 Liter keg of Heineken beer [about $20 bucks] for all 3 of them.;)

I take them this time Don. I miss out last time. Did you change the beer that you are drinking?

Don, You know what I am going to say:D
I'll say it anyways, The Km2's are the best offroad/onroad mudtire I have ever owned! I had Mtr's on my last rig and they worked ok, seemed like they had a short life on the road. The km2's are very smooth and about as loud as a Bfg A/t. The Km2's also work good in Mud,snow, sand and wet rocks.

The sideways are definitely beefed up on the new KM2s to the tune of 30% stronger. Also, they are suppose to be made with a new rubber compound that is more resistant to cuts, nicks, and slices so it is suppose to chunk less. I have only heard good things about them, but they are also pretty scarce right now. For what I have seen, they are priced the same as the old ones. Not a whole lot on the market yet since they aren't in the 15 "and 16" sizes until fall, but everything I have seen and heard about them is impressive.

i just cheked on the km2's for a customer on friday in the 35's and there not available yet, so the 37's wont either. they were saying it could be a couple more months. but there not to sure.

Are they on back order??? Ir did take about 30 days to get the 35" in the only 16" wheel size they offer, the 17's are easier to get. I have had the 37" tires since Oct.

Yeah, the 15" and the rest of the 16" sizes should be released by fall 2008
Currently avail sizes are listed on the BFG website

my km2s have been great nice on the road killer offroad. they do have thier limitations. ive wheeled UA and H2H on them. i did bust a sidewall on my last run but that had more to do with a sharp rock, speed and a upset driver(i broke the front diff shortly before). im going to go with the 37" km2s when i go bigger. i would recomend these to anyone looking for a street tire.

LOL, Don you are on.
The 5 Liter keg of Heineken beer [about $20 bucks] is about the best thing going in beer. Does not take up too much space in the fridge, you always have fresh beer on tap (once tapped it last for 30 days) and its draft beer.
I like it because you can drink what you want, either a short glass or several. I rarely drink beer if I am not eating a meal that goes with beer. I often find 12 oz not enough and 2x12 oz too much.
Thanks for the good things on the BFG KM2s, I will order those up...

Kyle, there are 3 and maybe he does not need all three, I would shoot him a PM and I will work with guys anyway I can...;)
Actually I have 4 but one of them has a cut in it and it leaks. I have been patching it with 3M weatherstripping and GOOP for over 2 years. My trip down to Mexico and driving on the beach in the sand for 2 days caused it to leak. It is a sidewall leak and for a spare I bet you can fill it like I have an it holds air fine. Just that when you air down the side wall flexes too much.

Don, I think you have already made up your mind, but I ....umm....second the opinion of others here. I would get the BFG MT KM2s. I have seen them in action, wet and dry, and I feel the way outperform the MTRs in all aspects. Including wear issues and road noise, not to mention wet/dry traction, cut resistance(even though they have not been out long), and tire life(milage wise).

they are not ATs thats for sure but i went from bfg rugged trail to MTR to KM2s. the rugged are nice road but :001_9898: in the rocks. the MTRs held surprisingly well to my beat ur bizh driving style.they were quiet when i first got them but got louder as i wheeled with them. the KM2s were installed without balancing they drive on road well not horribly loud but you can hear them. they hold up off road very well. untill i go trailer only these will be on my junk

Yea, I contacted my source and told them KM2's. If for no other reason change...I am on my 7th set of MTRs and I am a tad disappointed that GY has not done some product improvement like everyone else. Also having run 7 sets of these puppies I think I am in a good position to do a comparo...so look for the write up after I get back from Moab this month.

Got a fone call this afternoon and there are 4 KM2's waiting on me to drop off my wheels tomorrow morning.
Since I have bead locks it is a complicated process...look for pics and writeup tomorrow or the next day.
