Ok, so I finally got around to working on my tcase this weekend. All went well except when we removed the rear drive shaft (since we were doing the u joints as well), one of the bolts was broke. There was no clean metal, so it appears to have been broken for some time, but maybe not all the way? Who knows.
So we replaced the front u joints, re-sealed the transfer case, filled the trans and tcase and started drinking heavier because I was not driving home that night in front wheel drive with no one to follow in case we messed something up. I was back in the Bradshaws about 10 miles South of Mayer. So this morning we locked the hubs, threw the tcase in 4H and off we went. Made it just fine obviously, with no problem. I'm sure this is the biggest workout that tcase has ever had!
Anyway, I now have a bolt broke off in my rear diff yoke back in a couple of threads. Best suggestions? I know an easy out is an option, but the possibility of messing up the threads that are visible is high. Is replacing the yoke as simple as it looks? Just remove the large nut (what is that? About a 1" or so??) and pop a new one on? I'd guess that's the easiest way if it really is that simple.
TIA.
