No, I did not "Buy" one... came in the Jeep
last sunday (see last minute coves run) something blew going up hill
alternate banging from rear end
felt just like lost teeth on ring gear
removed rear drive shaft, drove home:eek::eek::eek: on front (detroit)
pulled cover , teeth all there
passenger side elevated
turn tire
can see axle turn (end inside spiders) but no spider/carrier movement
driver side elevated
turn tire
ring gear/carrier turns with axle
if axle snapped (allegedly chromo or some hardened), I shouldnt see inside end turn
did I strip spider gear?

steve I have a d/35 with 3.73 gears in the back yard, would need to be removed from the axle and I have never done that but let me know if you need anything out of it.

spare r/p set would be great, but dosen't seem to be r/p:confused:
teeth all seem to be there
passenger axle seems to spin inside side (spider) gear
are those things known to strip
anyone?

If you can't see the c clips, remove your wheel and drum. You could have one of the clipless axles, that would also explain how you made it home with a broken shaft if that is the case. I have a clipless in my old MJ, look behind the axle flange and you'll see four bolts that hold it to the housing instead of c clips. I liked it that way better, I could destroy a shaft and not have it walk out of the housing on the way home....but I never broke one!
Good luck.

well turns out wasn't the locker or the r/p.... shredded the axle shaft (I thought they were supposed to snap)
trying to put full floater kit on, but can't figure out assembly... if I put locking hub outside drum, will throw grease on inside of drum... if I put on inside of drum, seals bearings but drum sits outside about 1/2"
anyone have instructions for warn full float kit (not on site)
tried to post pic but won't upload (willl just have to trust me:eek::eek:)
stripped splines off axle

I've heard of a similar situation like that one, something about the arrangment of spacers. Think it was Dave at Desert Fab that came up with a diagram on that one.

Steve I have a full floater d-35 fully assembled in my shed. Did you have the drums centers milled out bigger to fit over the spindle nuts. I have all the parts you need.

center not the problem... if drum is placed outside hub, it moves too far outside
if placed inside hub, grease will sling on inside of brakes (at least they won't sqeek:eek:)
might see if I can come over and compare
anyway you could take pics (drum on/off)?

Steve did you get your brake drums milled. They need a much larger center hole. If not I have a set.
