I'm lost. I need to configure the emissions system on my 85 cj7, it's a mess. Can anyone help me put it all back together? do you have a CJ7 4cyl with complete working system that I can look at for an hour or two?

It will probably pass without all that stuff....someone I knew used to have a CJ5 w/a 327 chevy motor.....needless to say, it didn't have any of the emissions w/the exception of the canister....this person got a stock air cleaner and some drip irrigation line and stuck sections of the line off the cleaner and around the back of the air cleaner.....he then Picked up a smog pump from (if I remember right, a toyota) and mounted it with a fan belt.....ran the hose from the pump to the back of the engine and shoved it up into the tranny tunnel.....passed the smog test everytime, and when they looked under the hood, I had "everything" they look for, i.e., pump and canister......other than that information, I don't know much about the emissions process.....;)

not many 4cyls out there
I'm moving stuff again today, but would be more than happy to trade some tech time for some muscle time (see moving help thread)

Still having trouble, are there any nice fellows out there with a 4cyl 1985 CJ7 with emissions in tact for me to look at & study?

If you haven't already, check the FAQs and/or post up on http://www.cjoffroad.com/forums

Also, you might check out http://home.sprynet.com/~dale02/

While it's written for the 258, many of the components may be similar and it might help give you an idea of how your 4 cyl emissions should be setup.
