OK, this may be a strange question, but here it goes:
I will be making tube front fenders of some sort for sure

I will be going 1 tons pushed about 4" forward and 7" back with 39-42" tires w/ a LCG

If I plan on making tube front fenders that may even cut into the body line on the hood, should I just remove the stock fenders in good shape and try to sell? How much are they worth with good flares??

OR

Cut them and build the tube around/in them?

If I removed them completley, I would like to make some type of alluminum inner fenders for under hood pieces, I just don't want to waist the fenders if I could sell them and use money for build

If your going to do tubes real soon, remove the stock fenders in good shape and
try to sell them.

A new fender is $150 and figure another $100 for paint. A set in good shape with flares would probably bring at least $250.

I'd sell them.

Yup, the trick is getting them off before you smash 'em up :) If you take them off in good shape they are easy to sell.

That was easy, Off they go!

any tips on making all the stuff on the inner fenders a new home?

the extra room will make it easer to remove the spring/shock mounts. I will have coilover hoops, maybe I could build off of those for under hood items

Thanks

When I was looking for replacement fenders after my Jeep was wrecked I found new non-Mopar ones for $100. You may want to try and find someone with smashed up fenders to trade with along with some cash so that you can keep inner fenders on.

Sell them I have already flopped my YJ it had good fenders, but now the driver’s side has its own attitude from the flop and the beating they took with a hammer to get them off my tires! :smash:

Yesterday, while checking prices on TJ fenders on CL I found a pair of fenders FREE with just minor damage at a body shop, Yep I got em.

Now I have to decide to cut them up or just sell both pairs, (the new ones are in that good of shape!)

Fiberglass rock crawler hood would save lots of weight and look cool. Why stop at the finders?

If you have a free, damaged set, just use them for inners. It will save a lot of work, plus you will have to buy supplies to mount everything anyways, just cutting into the money you get from selling them.

I just cut my perfectly good fenders up. My flares were beat to hell, but the sheet metal was fine. i didn't want to go through the hassle of selling them and buying new ones right now. I also didn't want my rig off the trail any longer than it is currently going to be.

cause then you have to worry about shattering your nice new $450 fiberglass hood instead of hammering out a dented stock metal one
