3 of us went ot Sandy Beach yesterday, for my shakedown run with the new 4 to 1 and stickies. WOW! I am really loving them, even with it being very wet, the stickies hooked up great, and the 4 to 1 is awesome! It is like have autopilot, not much work with the clutch anymore, just 1st gear and crawl. A little carnage(broken D44 axle shaft), a little body damage(new corners are in the works for some), a little "body damage"(bees attacked us), a few winches and tugs, and a great time. We ran the trail pretty quickly, and were heading home before it got too warm. A great day with some great guys and a gal. Here are a couple of the pics I got.

Lance that looks awesome! I thought you already had a 4 to 1 and an auto?

How did you like the 4 to 1? No more slipping the clutch? :)

It is like night and day. Everytime I do a big upgrade, I always say it is the best $$$ I have spent to date on the Jeep. This is up there in the top 5 for sure. Along with LA, tires, gears, lockers............:D

Took us about 6 hrs, that was with the breaks and stucks. Bigger tires make for a lot less time, lots of diff hangers on the trail.

whats the story about the bees!

Right at the boulder garden coming back out, I got nailed 4 times in the back of the head by bees, and Matt(LilblueJ) got nailed twice I think, armpit and back. They were not out when we went through, but coming back was a little later in the morning. I still have a big lump in the back of my head that was not there before. Sucker still hurts.

Kicked Eric's butt(I think axle shafts), and broke Simon's winch getting him out. Simon's Warn winch case broke in half!

the jeep was dialed for this run. i fixed my steering with a waggy pitman arm so i didn't have the turning radius of a big rig. the 4-1 got in with time for me to get it in.
but on the way out i was pissed and driving like a idiot. its funny how a bee can hurt so bad. i had the front end wedged beetween two rocks and when it wouldn't move forward i decided to dump the clutch, well after the second time the driver side inner made it clear that it wasn't a fan of 38's.

Lance... I think there is a line there you missed... looks like you took the bypass in and on the way out... When I get my junk running (and if you want to hit it again) we'll go back out... The hard line on the way out is tough... you've got to stay to the left through the boulder field to hit it...

john i looked at that line and almost tried it on the way out but i got hung up on like four rocks right before it so that killed it for me. it might have been easyer because it was the only line that looked like it might have been more filled in than when we walked it.

i'm already looking into alloys but i'm scared because it looks like my 44 uses a differen't lenght shorty inner than most other 44's. customs run a little more. all of the shafts with longfield/ctms is gonna break the bank. i'm thinking that i might need to say **** it and drop the $1200 on a d60. i'll need to sleep on it because i just blew a grand on the 4-1 and to top it all off i've been looking into getting a tow rig soon

Wow. Bees again huh? Glad me and the wife didn't go....she won't get the Epi-pen until tomorrow and we know she's allergic. Sorry we couldn't make it.

Great pics. Looks like you guys had fun though.

I need to do this trail at some point. This really looks like a good one. Definitely need to bring bee spray though, just spray it all over as you are driving through the section of bees.

You head out of town, north southeast westish, until you get to a big saguaro/barrel/cholla cactus patch. Look for the bees, and it is right there, by the rock in the wash.
