Anyone interested in an east side run on 4/12 or 4/13? I've got a friend coming out from SF, and I wanted to show him some of Arizona that exists outside of Phoenix. :) The only place I feel comfortable leading is around Butcher Jones / Saguaro Lake, but if someone else wants to take point, I'd be amenable to nearly anything.

El Oso would be awesome. I've wanted to check that out for a while, but haven't seen any trips out that way. Anyone know the way?

What kind of a run is this? I am a novice with a new Jeep but very interested in getting into some off-roading. I have 35" tires and 4" lift.
Thanks.

So it looks like we've got some folks that are down for both Sunday and for Saturday. Personally, I'd rather do Sunday - I love a day out on the trails to cap my weekend. :) Laminate480, would you be cool with a Sunday run, since PapaMo has to work on Saturday?

Sundays aren't good for me, so count me out, but dont let me hold you back. its fairly easy to find, below is a website that gives a thorough description of the trail, El Oso Mine Loop. have fun!

It was a great day yesterday....great to meet ya Rick & Jamieson....Jamieson I'm glad you made it home ok, he had a partical broken front shackle, that he did not notice till we go to the air down spot, you would have for sure broke it on the El Oso loop it was a solid 3.0 if not 3.5 Did not get to many pic's this time. Yeah, thanks for the checkup, ya'll! Sucks we couldn't hit the trail with ya - talk about a let-down! And you're right about not making the trail - as soon as I'd jacked my front end off the ground yesterday to do the replacement, that other shackle that was cracked through just fell away. The only thing that was keeping it in place was pressure.

Wow, Well Jamieson, Im glad you made it home alright. Sorry Papa Mo but we were not on EL Oso LOOP, its called the Jolien Mine Loop which is FR 463 that loops back to FR 422 which is Edwards Trail.(FR 143 is El Oso Trail aka 4 Peaks Road) We had a blast out there on the FR 463, but trails not made for first time runners. We were busy spotting our own trails to take many pictures, but we did have few pucker moments. Jamieson you would have never made it so Im glad you spotted your broken shackle before going up on the trail. The trail of FR 463 is not that bad, but there is a spot where the rain is washing the road away. This is a sweet 3.0 or 3.5 3 mile trail. DO NOT ATTEMPT this trail alone, and make sure you have winch JUST IN CASE cause the drop offs are very far down and some obstacles are very close to edge of road and drop off. Rick Im glad you were able to make it, cant wait to see the photos.
