Collector Insurance

Anyone insure their rig with collector insurance and what ins company did you use? I called USAA today (they contract through American Family for collector ins) and they say you can't go off-road EVER. :pile:

Try Haggerity Ins. I spelled it wrong but you get the drift right.

I plan on switching mine (Jeep) to that in a few months when my current policy is up. We have others (Classics) insured by them and they have done us right so far.

as I just said in other thread,
IMHO / experience, insurance is only as good as the person who sells/services (agent or self service internnet)

not familiar with new off road limitations from geico, but in my experience stuff like that is nothing more than threats. best of my experience: insurance covers for actual cost value (what you could have sold for as private party)

Underwriting can prevent from writing policy on modified (lifted, engine change, steering mod etc), but 90 days (best of my memory) later policy cannot be cancelled (couple of extreme exceptions, ie DUI, other felonies, misrepresentation (hard to prove)). Even Hartford (wrote for them for short time) has those SAME exceptions, agent just chose to "over look"

general rules for restricted use policy:
must have more cars than drivers
no extreme modifications
insure whole household (including house)
claim free record
if you do get collector policy on modified Jeep, don't ever plan on filing comp/coll claim: it will be paid, but policy will be canceled and underwriting block on new policies
