Ok, so I don't see a forum this really fits into, so this one is close enough.
I've got an OLD Jerry can. The big red 5 gallon ones, everyone remembers those. But here's the problem. I have to double check, but I *THINK* I still have gas in it. And if I do, it's approximately 19 years old. This is of course assuming that it has not evaporated. If not, at least the can seals well.
Of course, if there is gas in there, I have this funny feeling it may be a bit varnished..or least on the verge. :laugh2: And if there is no gas in there, I would guess anything that WAS in there also varnished.
So, how do I go about getting this can usable again? Is there a product out there I can dump in, swish around and dump out that will clean it up for me? I suppose I can go with some kerosene and sand, but I rather not if there's something designed for this.
And yes, I know I can get the new plastic ones pretty cheap, but hey, how often do you see these old metal cans? And it fits since I'm in a 79 CJ5. It SHOULD have an old metal can, not the new plastic ones.
Thanks!
