i was all packed up and arrived early at the 4 peaks turn off, so i wouldn't miss this run....

i waited and waited...asking a good number of jeep drivers if they were there for the club run...one guy replied "there is a jeep club? i didn't know that."
i initially waited at the lower end of the hill, then drove up to the staging area, then back to the lower end of the hill...etc
no clue as to where everybody else was...just knew they weren't at the same place i was..

at least i did get practice packing equipment and had a great drive out there and back

as i had never had the chance to even try out the 4wd in my jeep, i decided to give it a try...i am sure i looked very silly...oh well...not the first time or the last...i slipped it into 4wd and proceeded up the hill to the staging area..pulled up on a large mound of dirt and sat for a minute, then proceeded down the hill to another large mound of dirt..sat there...up the hill..down the hill..finally i have "4 wheeled" (not sure, but don't think what i was doing truly qualifies..):driving:

i have sheep's bridge marked on my calendar, so hopefully i will get my first run that day...

Sorry we missed you. Do you have a CB? We were on Channel 4 all day. I was the only one who went straight to the Four Peaks turnoff. The rest came up from Sahuaro Lake on some trails I don't know. I went past the "staging area" and through the cattle guard and waited for the rest of the group at a little turnoff above the big tank. We met up and had a very pleasant drive, nice lunch stop, then down El Oso Road into Punkin Center. At least three of us went to Jakes Corner and hooked up with 87; clear sailing all the way home, traffic was light and no "bottleneck" to speak of. It would have been a perfect run for you! If you had PM'd me I would have given you my cell number, you can connect out there; at least around the turnoff.

Very sorry we missed your company! Photos will be posted under Sidewinder Run on the photo section.

i had thought about going further down the road, however; not knowing the area i figured staying closer to the 87 turnoff was a better idea...guess not...i will get the hang of this...did you see a white wrangler on your way in...with a woman in a blue baseball cap nearby? (i hope you didn't witness my silly "4 wheeling" activity..it probably looked rather bizarre!!!):driving:

i don't have a cb yet...that is on my list this weekend...

next time i will pm to insure someone knows i am coming...not to worry..after all no one knows me by sight yet...that will be remedied on the sheeps bridge run, if my state land use permit arrives on time...:party2:

thanks for the response...

Depending on your part of the valley there are a couple of recommended CB installers. Do a search on the forum for some threads about who to go to and what to get.

Nope, didn't happen to spot you.

The State land permit issue seems to be a ? here We have one from the past. and instead of mailing them you can go to 1660 W adams and get one there.
My question is.............Are we talking about a state trust land permit or a Blue thing you need to access the others??????????????????
We went to Apollo com. for our CB they are at 43 ave and Northern.

i would go down to pick up the permits; however, i have already mailed the forms and payment to them...heaven forbid i pay the fee twice...that will really confuse them..they might start revoking every license and permit i have..never know with those gov'mt types...

43rd and northern isn't too far from me..i am at 27th st and greenway...my time might be a factor...i work mon through thurs 10 hours and have every fri, sat, sun off..hopefully whoever i choose can either do it tomorrow or fri..thanks for the leads..
