Started and ran today for I think first time in 2 years!!! It breaths without mechanical ventalation or medication. Does not move or stop yet.
Almost done, just need drive shafts and brake lines to get back on and off the road.
Of course it is not done, no Jeep/Willys is ever done. Roll cage, 5 point harnesses, and A/C in the future. Propane too.
Big thanks out to Todd and Dave at Desert Fab who have been more than patient with my ups and downs in the wallet department. They made me a great deal on finishing the Flat Top Knuckle Dana 44 high steer conversion, fixing someone elses badly done power steering conversion (33" tires turn with one finger while parked), and adding a TH350 transmission with Twin Stick Dana 300 transfer to my SBC 350.
They were also very helpful with educating me on the best route for me for this conversion from a stock 53 Willys Pickup (except for the SBC 350) to a Spring Over, Dana 44 front, 12 bolt with Detroit locker rear, auto transmission, Dana 300 (easily swapped for an Atlas in the future) machine.
The idea was to build a Willys Pickup that would drive at highway speeds, tow well, and be as capable as possible in sand, mud, snow, and rocks.
