Landslide

Trail Rating: 4.0

Landslide is in the White Tanks area. It's a narrow wash that winds
its way up the mountain. It's comparable to Ruler except its much
longer and the rocks are bigger.

The start is very easy and uneventful. The first obstacle is a fun
waterfall that provides a good warm up. After a few minutes, you'll
come to an optional rock section. This section gives you a good idea
of what to expect the rest of the way. If you don't feel comfortable
with it, turn around and go back.

Continuing, you immediately find yourself in rock garden. Make sure
you have adequate skid protection because you'll need it. Rocks are
scattered from side to side and are constantly grabbing at yours
diffs. It can be very frustrating. The wash continues for a very long
time. There are several challenging obstacles along the way. Be
prepared for a long day and carry spare parts. Along the way, you'll
find broken axles and other broken parts. You'll finally exit the wash
and follow a loose dirt road to an amazing view. Follow the dirt road
down and to the right to return home.

The bare minimum requirements for Landslide are aggressive 35" tires,
Lockers front and rear, Winch, armor and skid plates and plenty of
spare parts. Body damage is very possible. Expect this run to take all
day.

This is the first major obstacle and gives you a good idea of what to
expect the rest of the way.

Right around the turn, the rock garden begins.

The wash is littered with rocks.

There are few if any bypasses.

Thanks Randy, (bab) for backing us up on Landslide. Fortunately, we didn't need anything to winch off of. Pretty much rolled through this trail in less than three hours.
I was aired down and waiting at 8 am and saw Randy roll by shortly after. Scott (ssaxman) and Justin and Neal (Rambo38) showed up right behind them.

I'm not sure where this trail got the bad rap from, because I had a ball wheeling it. Once Randy caught up, Mike got out and spotted me all the way through. We worked well together, I was usually starting to do what he wanted about the time that he pointed that way. I can only think of one time I had to get out and change his mind about where we wanted to go.
I didn't get a lot of pic's, too busy wheeling, but here are a few of the ones I did get.

This trail was great for the technical wheeler, begging you to get your tire placement right:

Lots of big rocks and tricky lines made this trail a blast to go up:

This fall was smooth and had a notch at the top that required maneuvering while you couldn't see what was above, I caught my rear diff. the first time and had to wiggle around to get Hyjak over enough to get up. When Justin came through, we moved him over a bit and with his 38's he cleared the spot easily.

See Scott, I told you I got a good shot of you coming up through the notch up top:

When we got up near the last fall, I gave my camera to Mike for a couple of shots:

I think he was expecting some big air here, but it never did happen:

The road out the top was so steep, we kept our lockers on. Coming back down to where Mike left his Jeep was a thrill too.

I'm pretty sure this would have been much harder without Mike, Neal and Scott's son spotting, even after asking for his name, I still forgot it by the time I got home.

Most of the carnage was on Hyjak, I finally popped one of my front turn signals off the front bumper, but the silicone held for over two years! Also, we had to stop and change my right rear tire about half way up. Pretty minor for a trail like this.
Big thanks to Mike, our token Mexican, for spotting me through this. You earned a 6 pack of Bud light next time I see you. It was a great day for wheeling and another great group of wheelers to spend the day with.
