We are now stocking Crow Enterprizes seat belts. Very affordable, and I am stocking black and gray, both 5 point and lap belts.

I was looking at Mastercraft's site last night and it said you need to get restraints restraped every 2 years. The restraints we use at work for an indoor, closed cab environment, recommend every 6 years. The truth on restraint life, I believe is someplace in the middle.
So if your restraints are 3-4 years old, either replace them or restrap them even if they look good. Since most of us don't know places that can restrap restraints to factory specs, then I would recommend you replace your restraints every 3-4 years, if not sooner. They don't last as long as factory restraints and they definately don't last forever.

Be safe.

We picked up a set of the 2" 5 point on Saturday and I am
very impressed with them... now I have to get Walt to hook
them up... wait... we have to put the "garage queen" back
together :::sigh:::

ha ha ha ha... I make myself laugh when I speak of her on
the road again...

What would you recommend for shoulder harnesses for kids?? Specifically for my 5 year old. Splits or Y-harness and what width??? Already have the 3" lap belt and will be gettting the anti-sub also

Do you need an aftermarket seat to utilize the 5 pts? The kind of seats with the slots in the back? Wouldn't the 5 pts just slide down your shoulders if you do not have them, rendering them virtually a lap belt only with crotch strap?

I don't know.....I've seen them without going through the slot in the seat...I think that is why they make the "y" style, to limit outward movement of the belts....all I know is 3" belts are Way to wide for her.

i was curious about that as of now i only have the lap belt but want the harness

I can tell you the draw backs to a harness are you can't lean forward to look over the hood or lean out to get a better visual, I rarely wear my shoulder straps, except when the possibility of rollover is imminent

In case you didn't get the drift of my post above:

All after market restraint, or most, are certified to SFI 16.1 - 16.5. According to the SFI web site at: http://www.sfifoundation.com/

http://www.sfifoundation.com/nylon.gif

If your restraints are over 2 years old, replace them.

James, is that from UV/sunlight exposure? Since I keep my Jeep garaged except for wheeling on Saturdays, would that be 720 days of wheeling...or a true 24 months?

I believe it is exposeur to sunlight, I am not 100% sure though. Most SFI certified restraints are made out of Nylon because of cost, whereas most auto restraints are made out of polyester, nylon degrades faster in sunlight compared to polyester.
