Our military and theirs have always had a decent relationship... military, not governments. It goes back to the days of WWI were they first fought side by side during a major conflict. The two military commands came to an agreement that one could help the other if requested. if I got the story right, both commanders bypassed their respective governments and worked out a deal for themselves. I believe they used some language from the NATO charter to get around any legal hang ups.
Personally, I think it is a good idea. It is meant to provide support to each other such a major attack from an outside party, natural disasters and so on. Due to the proximity, Canadian resources could be a lot closer to the north east part of our country then our own if a major disruption were to occur. Such as a an attack on New York.
But yeah, not bad idea to move this too off topic.

I have no problem with the Canadian military. Been workin with them here quite a bit and they are very decent/friendly people. If they want to help I say let 'em.

So if we got so fed up as in you and me over lets say the lack of illegal immigration enforcement to the point of CIVIL UNREST that you yourself became involved in you would have no problem with a military from another country coming here to help control you?I find that hard to believe.I dont have a problem with canada nor its military helping us in the event of a natural disaster or terroristic type event but to be brought here to control our own people.. I think not.Maybe Im just a little paranoid when my goverment feels that something may happen here in this country that is so wide spread in this nation that it wont be able to control it with its own forces.

When I read the words "civil unrest" I had the same thoughts you did. That is a little unnerving, makes you think they're expecting something to happen that's going to cause a "civil unrest" and they are preparing for it. Hey, maybe I'm paranoid, but with everything that's been happening in the US lately nothing would surprise me now.

I don't want to start any ripples, but the help control one of our borders and if they want to help us then I say why not.

After Katrina, there was "civil unrest" in that area. The NG was called in to help with that. If say more helicopters were needed, I'm sure our friends up north would have flown south to help out. That is a good thing.
Also keep in mind that we the US help in many "civil unrest" situations around the world. Whether it was disaster induced or politically induced, we show up to help out. If the unrest spreads it will be a huge war, and we want to avoid that. Most allies have this type of agreement in place.

Cave Gimp I agree with you to a point. The problem I have is why wait till now to put it one paper and make it law why wasnt it a big deal right after Katrina? Why didnt we do it after 911 why now?..Here is another little bit of disturbing info I was sent. I dont know much as I have not read it all but it does deserve our attention IMHO. I posted it here but in case you missed it go google REX84 see what you get and draw your own conclusions

And this is one of the reasons why many other nations hate us. Mabybe we should mind our own business.

Mabybe we should mind our own business.
My thought, yes we should, "we" as a nation should stop policing the world, let NATO do that, we are a member of NATO, we will provide support to them, and that will allow us to take care of ourselves.
