View Full Version : April 26th Breakfast/ white tanks run/ BBQ/ meet and greet

ROCRWLR

I posted a previous thread to see who was interested in attending and now I am posting this one so we can get an accurate head count for the food. if anyone would like to bring a side dish or desert that would be great.

My wife is doing the 3 day walk in November and we are putting together a meet and greet and white tanks run on april 26th. everyone will meet at our house (which is close to the air down spot) for breakfast then the run and a BBQ after the run. we will supply the breakfast and BBQ for donations. We have a full acre and no landscaping in the back yet so we have plenty of room. We are working on getting a kids bouncy thingy, an RTI ramp and will set up a couple of horse shoe pits and am working on getting some items donated for a raffle. If anyone can think of anything else we should add let me know and I will see what I can do. I will be needing some help with people that know the white tanks trails to post the trail runs and lead the trips. I do not know the trails in the white tanks. Below is a bit of history why my wife got involved. Anyone who wants to join our team is welcome. e-mail my wife at
dhovland1@cox.net for more info

My husband works for the goodyear fire dept and one morning about 3 and a half years ago he called me after getting to work and told me that the wife of one of his fellow firefighters had been dignosed with stage three breast cancer. I knew her, but not really well, just enough to know that she was only 26 years old and I immediately signed up and started this team that morning... I believe it was in july so Ii only had a few months to train and fundraise. We walked that year with four members. The following year we had around twelve members, We have a sister team called Las Bombas because we didnt all walk last year so those that did walked on that team. Jamie has been in remmission and cancer free for just under one year now. My mother had a complete mastectomy after many lumpectomies, and my husbands cousin has fought and won her battle with breast cancer. She calls me her hero, I call her mine... right now we have 5 members, with about five more on the fence. with all that said, after our last walk in 2006 four of us went and got pink ribbons tattooed on the top of our feet, so I share that tattoo with my best friend, her daughter and my youngest daughter... it means that much to me... hopefully this explains how dedicated i am to this fight,

Dean, I would love to go and will plan on it but will have to let you know for sure about a week in advance.
All my free weekends are dependent on what I'm working on at my house (I'm hoping I'll be at the moving in stage about that time so I can't commit to anything).
Can't wait to see your "new" heep!

Actually it will be just the two of us. The little one is still a little too young and the oldest will be staying with Grandma.

Brad we are going to have to see how many show up and what trails they are able to run, depending on how they are set up. we will have to break it up into a couple of groups so we dont have too many people on one trail. we have a couple of people that have said they will lead through some of the trails. everything for the breakfast and BBQ is done we just need to figure out the runs. John at hunter offroad is going to let us use his ramp and I have some raffle items donated fron desert fab and others may donate also.

So the plan is to meet at your house for breakfast at 0700 and then hit the trails when? I ask because I'm not sure how much time I'll have that day. If I don't have much time, I'll try to show up at least for breakfast. If I were able to lead on some trails but had to be back by 1400, would that help? Still gotta check on my kitchen pass...

The plan is to hit the trails as soon as everyone is done eating and we figure out the groups. we plan on being back to the house by 3:00 or a little earlier depending on how long it takes to get some trails in and it will be warm on saturday. after returning to the house we will BBQ, throw some horse shoes and let the kids play in the bouncy thing

Thursday I am going to install the brakelines, right side motor mount, wheel spacers and get the shock brackets welded on. that should take care of the majority of it. just worried about my tires, there is alot of tread left but the sidewalls are cracked. For those wondering about what trails are out there, the Tanks have anything from a solid 4 down to some simple 2's that can easily be done stock. There should be plenty of options for any rig.

Absolutely.........and those runs can be arranged once everyone gets there..and decides what they wanna do...then split off...with a lead and tailgunner for each one. Just will depend on what everyone wants to do...if you wanna see something harder but dont wanna drive..there should be empty seats also..just mention it out loud ;)
