Hi Guys,

I just got the engine done in my 94 XJ. Runs perfect, now it needs a lift. Can anyone make any recommendations for a decent lift on a budget?

I don't plan on doing anything hardcore at all, no rock crawling or anything.

I'm sure I'll hit some mud and sand, some "small rocks" and maybe some other minor obsticles. I was thinking maybe a 3" lift should be enough but should I go 4 or 5?

I don't want to make any major modifications to steering or driveshafts.

Rubicon Express RE6025 3.5" Super Ride w/ Rear Springs XJ it is about 584.00, no steering or DS mods needed and you can fit 31" tires.

I went with a budget lift from rough country about 250.00
I also installed disconnect's. I run 31's, it works great but I should of upgraded the shocks. They are week and they get real hot.

some pics of my rig with 3" rough country

Go with a 4.5 lift, it will be the one that you'll be the most happy with.
Check around, prices vary quite a bit, or shop ebay...

Best of luck,
Gordon.

RE in my opinion. I did the RE 3.5 and had not problems at all on my 85 and I like it. Should have gone bigger, but I'm into rocks. I've heard people say Rough Country=rough ride. A buddy put a Rough Country on his TJ and he hates it.

Don't forget to add in 4-shocks, 4-leaf spring bushings, axle perch shims and in all likely hood, you'll be much better off with an adj. track bar.
Personally, I do not like RE's swaybar disconnect set up... to each their own.

I don't know that quality, and cheap typically correlate with one another... if ride character is part of your quality statement, you can definatly toss cheap out the door. Seems in the cherokee world, if you want great ride you are looking at Bilstein 5100's or Old Man Emu's shocks... approx. 300 bux in shocks alone...

On a budget, I would spring for 1" shackel, 1" soild block (or re-arch the stock leafs), 2" coil spacer and go whole hog on shocks... adding JKS discos.
Leafs will likely last 2-4 years(mine lasted 5years like that), and, at that time you can add leaf packs, or, reconsider the whole intent of the rig.

Good luck.

I would say just save the money and get a long arm. I have the full traction and it came with longer break lines had to buy the shocks and the track bar and also got the track bar mount brace. Good all the way around.

Yes i know that i bought the ride done up but i help build this with the guy that i bought it from. I have been friends with him for 11 years so yes i built it then bought it:D
