View Full Version : Do you wheel on a regular basis

Erich

I couldnt find a poll on this. It seems the consensus is that less than 5% on here wheel on a regular basis, I just have to know...
How often do you wheel your rig? Be honest, Im just curious..
What you vote wont be shown.
I personally go wheeling at least 2x a month.. Its cheap (most the time) and the kids love it when I take them.

I've wheeled a dozen times since the middle of December at minimum...count me in the 5%.

Thank God you do, otherwise there probably would be less people on here in the 5% club.. :fashizzle:

The bad thing about this thread, out of the 4300+ members here, only 15% actually get on the site regularly.

If I got divorced I could wheel more!!!

Oh wait Ohiotj is getting divorced real soon.....

When additions to the family arrive, wheeling happens less and less!!! When the little one reaches school age then I will be wheeling more than once a month!

I try to wheel my junk pretty much every weekend. The weekends I miss I more than make up for the next weekend. Last weekend I met up with Junky at the Butcher Jones run, then got bored and ran the Sunflower loop later that day. Then Terron wanted to run Upper Woody the next day so I could kill my door. I figured that makes up for my lack of wheeling this weekend so I can help some buddies fix/upgrade their junk. And every once in a while I take a weekend off to kill some paper too. :)

I was wheeling every weekend. Buying a house now and working on projects is going to keep me from wheeling for the next month or so though. Might end up throwing my jeep together enough to wheel again like I have done a few times this past month.

I run pretty tight on 2x a month, sometimes more and once in a while less.

Trails are primarily 2.5-3.5 with some that seem harder but not sure if any would be considered up to a 4.0, the Jeep is well trained but I ain't....but getting a lot of practice time!!! :smug:

I end up going out every other weekend. Sometimes life happens as a single Father. Today, I get to spend the day watching my daughters team play volleyball. Next Friday, I go to Denver for a three day volleyball tournament. Just seems to go on and on. But she is a junior in High School, so in a couple more years, I expect to wheel more.

Since we are retired and have had the Jeep for almost three years, we probably average three times a week in the cool months. We have 10,000 miles on the backroads to prove it. Mostly 2 to 3 trail ratings. I check the Jeep often and am pleasantly surprised at how well the drive train and suspension are holding up. It now has 90,000 miles on it. :smug:

I'm time challenged, due to the number of things we like to do. I still manage to wheel several times a month. With seven hours a week at the gym, five hours a week ballroom dancing, it's hard to fit in bicycles, backpacking, rock climbing and scuba diving on a regular basis.
Most of my trails are in the 3.5 range, but this month it's been the 3.0 trails with less equipped rigs or solo. Wheeling opportunities that pop up during the week are limited, and it's hard to find anybody to wheel with when they occur. My weekends are crazy, Sharon keeps me hopping for most of those. :aagh:

As I am retired, I wheel more often, although I still have a job. I am usually gone one week a month Training and Certifying the Grey steel workers of the world.

I try to get out every weekend, but usually 2 to 3 weekends a month depending
on what TC and the boys are running and hitting the trails around here like
Phoenix Park wash off of 277 or doing Maintenance runs to the Cracks and I am
starting to explore out there more and more.:)

I'm out there every weekend most of the times it's Saturday and Sunday, I don't always go with a group. I have hobbies that take a Jeep to get me to where I want to go in the AZ Outbacks (photography, hiking, metal detecting, gold panning, rock hounding, ghost towning, camping, exploring and playing with the dogs)... did I leave anything out... oh yeah, and a bit of wheeling. :)
Doing it, cause I can !

I pretty much never get to wheel because of school and work. When the times there, the money isn't, and when the money is there, the time isn't. My wheeling time is pretty much restricted to Sunday afternoons, but that is dependent on homework and studying.

So sell the kar you're driving to fix your jeep, at least you can drive it to work. Or sell the jeep and go away, again. I've never understood why someone would bother keeping something they can't drive for over 6 months or so.

And why can you use swear words in you sig?

I have wheeled both weekends so far this month, and plan on some this coming weekend again too. Don't always get pics (too busy driving). Mostly close to home, don't get a chance to make it down the hill too much to wheel. I consider myself in the 5% club, even though it may not always be "hardcore" trails.

Cause my jeep will suck onroad when its done. would you sell your jeep if you started swapping both axles, custom suspension and a few other goodies how long would you wait till you sold it? And if it was ugly enough that no one would wanna buy it, then what? Why sell whats paid for and 90% complete?

Over a year I probly avg twice a month.
I am an owner/operator truck driver and spend about 2 months on the road before coming home for time off. I have had 3 "vacations" since i bought my '08 2dr Rubicon in Sept '07(my first jeep, wheeled a lifted 4dr silverado for 2yrs b4) I stay home for 1-2 weeks and wheel about every other day. Some of those trips are 2-3 day camping trips. I think I spend about 20-25% of my "home" life on the trails around the Prescott area.

I KNOW I have issues!

Just got back from four days of wheeling in Moab, so I checked my calender to see how many days I have wheeled this year. Twenty-six days of wheeling so far this year! Five of those days where wheeling my GMC Sierra into the remote camping sites that we like so much, but most of it has been on moderate (3.5) to difficult (4.0) trails with Hyjak.
I got a great compliment from Sy (Syota) while wheeling in Moab last week. He hadn't seen me wheeling since last fall and noted that I was a lot smoother on difficult obstacles like Hells gate:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y126/allands/2008-05%20Moab/SA400027.jpg
